Was just announced that The Sydney Marathon will become the 7th World Marathon Major (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York & now Sydney) from 31 Aug '25 beating out Cape Town & Shanghai in the process. After her OLY Gold (Marathon), Bronze (5K) & Bronze (10K) in Paris plus 4th place in the Tokyo Marathon earlier in the yr, very curious as to what the '25 season looks like for a 32yr old Sifan Hassan i.e. more or less focus on the track seeing as she's won 3 of her first 4 Marathons while still winning medals on the track at the same time?!

Why are you telling us the km splits in mins per mile? Please be consistent with your units! (Ideally, just accept that metric is king).
@karlismymiddlename24 күн бұрын
He had per km splits up there too. For most Americans it’s easier to visualize the pace, even for 5k, in minutes per mile

@@tellitronellis9202 Grow up you absolute baby 🤣 Shall we go though your entire comment history online and see if you’ve ever raised a point. If he’s talking about 5k distance it makes sense to nearly all the world to talk in minutes per km. I’d have no problem with him talking in miles if he was talking about mile splits. But mixing units is confusing…especially when many countries have a different definition of a mile (my Norwegian father in law insists a mile is 10km).

To me I'd say, who cares unless I'm there doing it myself. Yes It'd be for fun, or to just do it; but running is degenerative af, I try to avoid too much long distance now, enjoy your downtime or lost mass afterward etc.. If I'm not on some mission I don't see a point much. The only important thing here is like if some random runner is scouted in one of these that like 'breaks a record' or 'should be in the olympics' kind of like how Femke Bol was spotted in Japan or whatever happened there.

This race just continues to show us how much the new women’s WR is dirty. The top men continue to be consistently close to the 2:05 range yet none of these women were even close to a 2:14.
@Reckoning294322 күн бұрын
You can’t compare a race with a rolling hill profile, such as NYC, with pancake flat courses like Chicago. Races like NYC or Boston are run slower by default. You’ll never see any world record on those courses lol
@UltimateToronto17 күн бұрын
@ Sure the course will be slower than races like Berlin. But if you compare the time difference and consistent across the field there is something suspicious to say about that WR. In a flat course most lead men are running around 2:03 so there was only a 3-4 minute difference between here and Berlin/Chicago

The team has way more impact on the runner than the country of origin. And they aren't representing their home town - they are representing the corporate offices.
