I hope this really is our year man. We as San Diegans deserve this more than any other fanbase. Even over every other team that has not won a world series. At least they have sports teams in their city that have won a championship (Nuggets/Avs/Broncos,Seahawks, Packers/Bucks, Lightning/Bucs)
@danielfarrell36884 ай бұрын
Liked your comment but man, got to add some perspective. I'm a 35 year transplant and a HUGE Padres fan...and YES....San Diego deserves a championship! But no fanbase is more loyal and deserving in sports than Buffalo Bills fans. Their fans endure frozen hell on earth to shovel their stadium out and and give their Bills a chance to finally win a championship. Over 110 years of frustration between Bills and Sabres.
@bretfisher72864 ай бұрын
It's really quite silly to predict things like this, but I understand that this is a very common technique for attracting attention. A lot of luck and serendipity is involved in winning the World Series. Whoever does it will have worked hard for it, and many unnamed people in the background will deserve credit, and, also, it would be a confluence of states and fortunes and fortunate coincidences around age, injury, psychology, health, attitude, and collective solidarity (or, "chemistry", as it's known). And a millimeter here and there-- a very tiny muscular contraction at just the moment needed, and air currents, and calories. The only thing we can say with any certainty is that any group of people engaged in a common goal actually do seem to create their own luck. But even that can fail. A good video-- thank you!

the main thing im worried about right now is the bullpen. although it is markedly improved compared to the first half (thank god for no more de los santos), it has been losing some steam lately. suarez in particular has been struggling a little, usually walking or giving up a couple of hits. i believe he can rebound to being unhittable again, but ive noticed a pretty big loss in control for the last month or so. as long as the bats are firing, it shouldnt be a huge deal, but we cant afford to have our bullpen lose its steam right at the end since AZ and LA have really strong batting lineups right now
@TheBaseballBlues4 ай бұрын
That's understandable, but I still believe that the bullpen as a whole is still strong, even with Suarez scuffling recently. With the upcoming days off, Shildt should be less inclined to use the less than reliable arms like Matsui and Peralta. The rest of the bullpen is strong and should help this team in their Postseason run

The perfect storm fighting for a wildcard spot? Be for real.
@TheBaseballBlues4 ай бұрын
I hear ya, but winning a division doesn't guarantee a WS victory. Just look at last year, both WS teams were Wild Card teams. The Dbacks backed their way into the playoffs because the Cubs fell off a cliff and then went on a wild run. The year before, Phillies came up just short after barely squeaking into the playoffs as a Wildcard team. The 2019 Nats won it all as a Wildcard. I know it's a bold statement saying that SD will win it all this year, but a team doesn't have to be a division winner to be the perfect storm in any given year.

Aside from the asterisk series, all the hardware in your trophy case is pretty tarnished looking. BUT AT LEAST YOU HAVE IT. And I'm not saying the Dodgers are scared of the Padres, but you'd be wise to know your ass is up against a better, more complete team at this point in time. Dodgers are a great collection of talented players, but as much as it sucks to say cause I like Dave Roberts, Mike Schildt is a worlds betteR manager and there's a reason a you have what....11 or 12 starting pitchers on the IL. Roberts will just make that worse by over managing come playoffs. Bet you a beer sir, should Padres and Dodgers meet, it won't go well for Blue. We'll get a preview here in a few weeks. I completely agree. He gave his all to the team, gave Preller and open checkbook, and the players just didn't play with heart. Guys like Hader, they were more worried about their payday than their commitment they'd made to the team, to Peter & Preller, and to the fans. He deserved to see a WS win and he didn't get to see it happen. He may not be here to see them play anymore, but they need to continue winning for that gold heart on their jersey. @TheBaseballBlues4 ай бұрын
I wouldn't call the Twins or Mets mediocre teams as they're both fighting for playoff spots. And while yes, they haven't been winning at the same pace as they were in late July/early August, aside from the Rockies series, they have won or split every series they've played in the second half.

I know what you mean, but I guess I just see it differently. While I do think they should've taken at least 3 of 4 from the Cardinals, they still split that series. The Tigers, SD took 2/3. Same with the Rays, and it was 2/3 against the same Rays that had just swept a red hot Dbacks team just the weekend before. And while a sweep is always great, it's not gonna happen all the time. Winning series is key, and aside from the Rockies, they haven't lost a single series since the all star break. That's impressive and hard to do.
