As the best-selling 3-row luxury midsize SUV in the segment, the latest #AcuraMDX gets its first refresh since this current #MDX was introduced about 3 years ago. Both the #MDXAdvance and #MDXTypeS finally ditch the True TouchPad interface for an actual touch-screen, while all models get new wheel designs and an updated front fascia. It goes on sale in May 2024.

@@slamdunk118 try to see the bigger picture; the pad was probably the single most agreed-upon gripe in reviews of the 22-24'. Between that and early mention of the drivetrain getting tweaked, it's a good sign Acura was paying attention to feedback.

So glad they’re getting rid of the touchpad. That alone prevented me from ever considering Acura. Genesis does a much better job having a touchscreen and a rotary dial.

My wife has a ‘22 TLX A-Spec and I agree it’s really not bad once you adapt to it. In Apple CarPlay it’s a bit awkward initially cuz it’s not the 1:1 positioning, but moving the selector around isn’t terribly unintuitive either. I think a lot of reviewers complain about it for the sake of people agreeing with them but I’m able to navigate it without looking because I’m used to wear everything is at.

I have a 22 MDX Advance, and despite almost 3 years of use, I still don't Like the TTIP. It's Terrible in AA or CP mode. I ususally use the HUD selector and /or steering wheel selectors [and once you learn the Short Cuts Icon = that helps too] to select variuos things I need. And anybody who should use the car (like a family memeber on occassion), can't stand it. Ideally , Acura should have included Both.

The touch screen is nice, but the better option would have been to allow touch screen and touch pad at the same time. All of the UI updates seem less elegant, and i’m not a big fan of the alacantra patches on the type-s seats. They must be getting rid of the base type S for 25. They only sell the base type s through special order right now.

Nice work on the video! The SUV looks good, inside and out, however, it is too expensive IMO. Type S with the same engine for $75K. If they could increase the power to 400HP/450T with electric assist it would be more appealing for me personally. Them selling only 10% of the type s makes sense because the engine isn't beefy enough. A X5 50e is in the same neighborhood and will smoke this thing.
@MixedG80
@MixedG80 5 ай бұрын
Yeah, 0-60 in 5.5 for a big chunky SUV is plenty fast... Given I've never seen SUVs race, and can speak from personal experience that mashing the gas pedal has very limited appeal over time, that last line is probably a non sequitur for most. This thing is for hauling gear and/or the fam while still allowing for some fun, and a similarly optioned 50e will definitely be more expensive while also less reliable overall. If I want thrills, I'll add a Vette or Porsche to the garage.

Only about 10% in sales for the MDX TYPE S makes sense. People really think anyone just has $75k to purchase a vehicle. Absolutely it’s a gorgeous looking truck but it’s very expensive and during these times, it’s just not the kind of money people are spending. At least the average person. Just because you can afford it, doesn’t mean everyone else can. That said, I expect at least the advance or A-SPEC to outsell this trim. THIS is exactly how the type s should’ve looked like from the beginning. Is it worth $75k? It’s always subjective especially when you have German rivals in that dollar amount. To each their own.

Good overall synopsis review of this terrific SUV. I have a 22 MDX Advance - and truly "LIKE" it - (I use the term love for people) . My lease exoires in August 2024. This New Type S is very enticing. You should have pointed out that the Type S is $10K more than the Advance Model. It is good to see that Acura included the massaging seats in the 25 Advance (I am jelaous!!), The inclusion of a true Touch Screen is very Welcome. Although I have become somewhat accustomed to the TTIP (touch pad), which BTW still forces me to take my eyes off the road despite what Acura says, and is downright AWFUL when using AA or CP. When using AA or CP, the Touch Pad becomes a very S L O W moving mouse pad, and in that mode, it Cuts Off the Center Console USB port for playing music form Flash Drives??? I'm presuming with this new Touch Screen that issue is eliminated !! The demo shows it to b e a fast reacting system. So, my dliemna is threefold: Do I buy out my 22 MDX Advance at a set buyout price of $385K (only will have about 21K Miles !) ; either Buy or Lease a New 25 Advance ; or buy or lease a 25 MDX Type S Advance !! If the 24 Type S (which I think are Advance Top of The Line Models) is circa $75 K , the 25 will be up from there- circa $78K ? I just saw that Acura is now offering 1.9% Financing on the 24s!! 3 Years I Think . IMHO, I am not as fond of the new chnages on the front end on the 25 compared to my 22 .... Finally, I feel that thr 2018-2020 Sport Hybrid would have been a fantastic Comeback in 2025,. Slightly less HP / Torque of the Type S , but better than the non Type S AND at least 20% better MPGs ! A Sport Hybrid would have been a Grand Slam.

That MPG is very misleading! I had the 2023 MDX Type S Advance and loved the massage feature as well as the performance BUT … the MPG’s were plain Garbage! . I had it for like 8 months, couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Sometimes I got 13 - 14 mpg combined, just as bad as my Tundra TRD PRO but my tank has 38 gallons, this vehicle had a tiny reservoir, I had to take it to the gas station every 3 days, that’s very unpleasant for anybody. Just my two cents. ✌🏼

Not surprised to see only 10% Type S sale of all the MDX, because gas mileage is horrible, plus you have to fill it with premium gas which is now more expensive than few years ago. Give us powerful hybrids.
@MixedG80

Agreed that MPG could/should be better, but if gas prices are a real concern, a $75k vehicle shouldn't even be under consideration. The new TX looks pretty sweet and has a nice hybrid option, but the MDX has a more appealing set of features to me.

I have a feeling that the refreshed Kia/Hyundai out for 2026 will be nicer than this and 10k cheaper. A question about the new Acura Watch 360. Why would you want automatic Lane change, if it doesn't have hands free driving? What convince is it for you when your hands are already on the wheel? Do you think this system is upgradable to be hands-free with just a software update, and Acura isn't ready to do that yet?
