Honda cheaps out on everything, always. My Fit has power locks but no keyless entry. I have to use a damn key to lock and unlock the doors, and they use inferior locks which always fail and have to be rebuilt by a locksmith. The Fit also leaked after a few years, all the factory seam sealer on the roof failed and had to be resiliconed. My car has no MP3 player built in either. You had to buy the Sport trim for that (same with the keyless entry). World-class cheapos. This is our 3rd Honda. We also have a Mazda, my 5th, the brand we prefer. @jeffjo8732Ай бұрын
I'm amazed at how many different ways this powertrain is described. It is possibly the simplest ICE powertrain available, but that makes it so different from any other that some explanations will make it sound more complicated than it is. Most of the time, it is an EV. Not a _Battery_ EV, like a Tesla, but a _Battery_ and _Generator_ EV. The ICE runs at its most efficient rpm and power, and _only_ _as_ _a_ _generator._ You can calculate the ratio of the transaxle OUTPUT_RPM/INPUT_RPM, but it is not a "gear ratio." Because there are no gears, and no mechanical connection. It "varies continuously" only because speed varies continuously. You can't combine the ICE and motor torques because the ICE torque is not applied to the wheels. If you want to call that "direct drive," sure. It is. But "direct drive" usually means that an ICE is driving the wheels directly, not an electric motor. That is what happens when the clutch closes. But that is only when a more conventional car would use an overdrive gear, so this mode is not important to a discussion of performance. Because it is an EV, you can't "brake-torque" it (15:10). But by going thru those motions, you are telling the computer that you want a 0-60 test, so it turns off those asinine simulated shifts. All the shifts do is momentarily drop the ICE out of its best efficiency mode, and lower the application of power since we have been raised to think a momentary loss of power means more power. While true for an ICE with an actual transmission, that does not apply to EVs. (Ah, you say as much later, less cynically.)

Love the car, however if you were averaging 43 MPG I know its not hybrid but the ST Hatchback since like a great option for only a slight drop in fuel economy.

That's quite good looking actually :O

I agree about the base 7" screen being a crime. Also, why can't they just use direct tire pressure sensors like every other manufacturer?

Cars like the Civic today would be considered luxury cars only 20 years ago.

This one is going to be a hit for sure but no rear vents and USB for $34k??
@mikeb3216Ай бұрын
The Touring Hybrid Sedan has air ducts under the front seats that push air to the back. Don't know if that's the case for all trims or the Hatchback but I don't see why it wouldn't be.

@@aehmerchant I found a Hyrbid Hatchback listing and it has them also. it shows HVAC -inc: Underseat Ducts under the interior options.

oh you think you're royalty or something that you need rear vents and USB? Come on guys, Honda needs to make some profit too hence they cut out the rear vents and USB /s

@@johnkonde1975 newsflash - those aren’t royalty items, they’re standard with most $30k plus cars. Civic has moved up market in the last few years with the price to match

Everyone says the road noise is terrible on these newer civics. Even when changing sound deadening.

Love the color in this Civic. I really like the purplish gray color they offered on the Civic is 2024 but not sure if it is still available for 2025.

Finally, the hatchback! If only it came in that lovely blue color from the sedan and not the sand muck color. :

I think the Civic Hybrid Sport Touring Sedan will be my next car! But I will never understand who would want this color!?!? It's a lot like the Zircon Sand color that Mazda has....which is also hideous! Make mine blue please!

$30000 for this hybrid in the US! In Canada we pay $40000 plus 12 % tax and the ruddy thing is made here in Alliston Ontario. What a rip!

i hope the day comes where honda doesn't consider the civic being the "lower" end car compared to the accord. The small premium features like cooled seats, powered trunk would just make it even more perfect.
@ellen0328Ай бұрын
Yes - totally agree! I hate when I see things like no lumbar support, no rear air vents, no rear usb. Smaller size shouldn’t equal less premium.

@@truckercowboyed2638 yeah thats fine but if I want the touring model and willing to pay $30k+ i'd love those features there's a handful of other cars in that price range that does come with it. I don't think its a price factor but more of saving these "premium" features for the accord.

AWD option would have been solid. Still a good vehicle though.
@kellyaustin7487Ай бұрын
Then it would be much heavier and way overpriced. AWD doesn't apply to this particular vehicle. Not necessary.
@bigmacdaddy1234Ай бұрын
AWD doesn't improve a car's ability to stop or turn in poor conditions. It can also be tricky in some conditions, like intermittent ice and snow. If you hit the wrong patch of ice at too high a speed, you could slide or spin. AWD vehicles may also be more likely to hydroplane in some circumstances. Better off with proper snow tires and becoming a better driver.

34,500 and no rear vents and no rear connectivity. Come on Honda. Great car but are the improvements worth the price? Add all the additional costs when buying and it’ll be darn near 40k. I’ll be sticking with my 2024 EX-L for a long time.
