Today I visited a Honda dealership in Los Angeles. And they have the Civic hatchback hybrid, sports touring version. But only one. I felt pretty lucky because no other dealer in my city has one. The sales man showed me the car and I took it for a test dive. It's a great car and I decided to buy it. But while sitting in the sales office I found out that it's not for sale. Honda sent the car to the dealer as a demo. The dealer must keep the car for 90 days before selling it. I had cash in hand but could not buy it. Bummer!

No memory seats in a 2025 Touring? C’mon, Honda! They make life a lot easier for a young couple sharing a car. By the way, Honda used to offer a very similar color on the Civic decades ago.

Honda cheaps out on everything, always. My Fit has power locks but no keyless entry. I have to use a damn key to lock and unlock the doors, and they use inferior locks which always fail and have to be rebuilt by a locksmith. The Fit also leaked after a few years, all the factory seam sealer on the roof failed and had to be resiliconed. My car has no MP3 player built in either. You had to buy the Sport trim for that (same with the keyless entry). World-class cheapos. This is our 3rd Honda. We also have a Mazda, my 5th, the brand we prefer. Doubtful we will buy a Honda again.
@bill7481

@@OMGWTFLOLSMH Honda does have the tendency to give the least possible to its customers. On the current SI, for instance, they don’t carry the color and material of the front seats to the rear seats. On the Pilot Elite, they use reflector LEDs as opposed to the projector LEDs used in the competition. Again, even our 2020 Mazda3 Premium has projector LEDs that turn in corners.

I personally was trying to decide if I wanted to buy the Honda Civic hybrid hatchback versus the Toyota Prius. I took both for test drives and decided to go with the 2024 Toyota Prius hatchback with all wheel drive. Not only do I think the Prius looks a lot better, but it handles great and is very peppy with the all-wheel-drive. So far, I only have 300 miles on my Prius and I got 61 miles per gallon on one trip at 71 miles per gallon on my second trip. my short trips averaged about 52 miles per gallon

I think the mpg numbers depend massively on the driver. I can probably get wayy more than advertised with this car. I say that because I get 525 miles range in my 18' Sentra with a 13.2 gallon tank with my average normal driving. Roads here are longer/less lights in Florida but still. I'd probably be in 600s in this civic, very attractive. Would love to get one, but too much OTD lol, MSRP is fine.

I'm amazed at how many different ways this powertrain is described. It is possibly the simplest ICE powertrain available, but that makes it so different from any other that some explanations will make it sound more complicated than it is. Most of the time, it is an EV. Not a _Battery_ EV, like a Tesla, but a _Battery_ and _Generator_ EV. The ICE runs at its most efficient rpm and power, and _only_ _as_ _a_ _generator._ You can calculate the ratio of the transaxle OUTPUT_RPM/INPUT_RPM, but it is not a "gear ratio." Because there are no gears, and no mechanical connection. It "varies continuously" only because speed varies continuously. You can't combine the ICE and motor torques because the ICE torque is not applied to the wheels. If you want to call that "direct drive," sure. It is. But "direct drive" usually means that an ICE is driving the wheels directly, not an electric motor. That is what happens when the clutch closes. But that is only when a more conventional car would use an overdrive gear, so this mode is not important to a discussion of performance. Because it is an EV, you can't "brake-torque" it (15:10). But by going thru those motions, you are telling the computer that you want a 0-60 test, so it turns off those asinine simulated shifts. All the shifts do is momentarily drop the ICE out of its best efficiency mode, and lower the application of power since we have been raised to think a momentary loss of power means more power. While true for an ICE with an actual transmission, that does not apply to EVs. (Ah, you say as much later, less cynically.)

As someone who drives a 2021 Honda Insight EX with just a little over 40,000 miles, I really like this one. That being said, idk if it will be worth it for me to trade in for it since its only a slight upgrade with hatchback space and a bit more range. Plus the Insight has a 10.3gal fuel tank size that still gets me 496 miles of range. I would totally go for it if I didn't already have an Insight with more than half the loan paid off...that and it only cost me $26k msrp before TL&F.

I ordered my daughter civic 2024 in Aug 2023, I asked sales person for hybrid, I was told Honda does not make hybrid in Civic. So I ended up ordering none-hybrid 2024 Civic. I received the car on 21st of Dec 2023 and then later days I learned Honda planned to introduced Civic in hybrid and now I am stuck with none-hybrid Civic 2024. I wish I knew better, it cost me cdn $43000.00 for Civic Touring.

@bigmacdaddy1234

AWD doesn't improve a car's ability to stop or turn in poor conditions. It can also be tricky in some conditions, like intermittent ice and snow. If you hit the wrong patch of ice at too high a speed, you could slide or spin. AWD vehicles may also be more likely to hydroplane in some circumstances. Better off with proper snow tires and becoming a better driver.
