I rode one of these for a couple of seasons around 2010. Was saying to a buddy today it was one of my favorite ever boards, before seeing this review... Only board ive owned that could easily do carved nose and tail press turns - by using the magnetraction as turn initiation points. Ive been a euro carver forever, and I m pretty sure i was carving circles on this deck, just as well as any other. I was often riding without high backs back then just for the fun of a looser feeling. Also learned how to rude powder switch on this easier than anything available before this. Don't hate the board! It's just at the opposite end of the spectrum from a cambered poppy conventional board, and theres so much fun to be had on anything, amd enjoyment as a rider to explore the possibilities on many different boards, the more different the more fun!

Bro I rocked a 2012 skate banana , I won a few rail jams on that and u can ride on a skating rink and magnate action will bite , it takes 4-5 days to get used to but once you are comfy on it , nothing better for hitting presses , don’t land backseat lmao . Don’t take it off big jumps it’s a disaster ..

Skate Banana must now be one of the longest manufactured boards still in an almost original format, maybe 15 years now, ok Burton still markets a custom but it's very different from the originals. So I do have a skate banana in the collection - everything the review said, fun in soft snow, carves but not well or like a camber board, super fun for spinning and messing around at not super fast speeds.

Hate Banana, but it still sells! Got a mate that rode one for years, he loved it. Another mate picked one up cheap as a second board and hated it. I've never ridden one, but have a Box Scratcher, fun but limiting in pop and stability. Thought the Box was pretty close to the Bannana, but judging by your review for the Box it seems to offer a bit more.

What do you recommend instead of this? I’m honestly looking for a board that’ll be easy to ride. Last time I went I rented a board that was full camber 165 and I really struggled to the point I wasn’t having fun. I’m used to riding something closer to 153/149 now that’s a full rocker at an indoor snow dome and it’s fun and easy but I think it’s made my technique pretty poor/ I’m not really improving.

I rode this once... A bit too small in i admit... Man this thing was totally uncontrolable ! Even on small sidehits. It felt i was on a on a small skimboard in front of huge shorebreak wave. 😂😂😂😂😂.

I'm 44 and in solid shape but my gnar days are behind me, just looking to cruise, hit some small jumps and enjoy the mountain as much as possible. I've only got one season under my belt w/ a used Nitro Magnum and looking to buy my first board. I'm going to spend a lot of time at Keystone moving fwd... I was debating between the Rome Warden and Skate Banana. What do you think?

If the board has not changed in all the years, os has been said in anothermcomment, then "cheat code for buttering" is way too positive. I had the "opportunity" to ride one for a day several years ago, I gave it back early mid day, switching to a T Rice Pro Pointy, repeating the same runs with that for direct comparison: The Skate Banana did not butter better and was far worse in any other aspect. My personal butter stick is the GNU Finest, which defenitely butters better than both of those and does so without sacrificing the fun of laying some trenches in between.
