@@Rfk1966I just don't see high boost 4 cylinders under high load on a truck chassis being reliable enough for the Toyota badge. They do good engineering but they can't engineer their way out of the basic laws of physics 😅 Also the turbocharger system and hybrid systems have exponentially increased maintenance costs anyway which I don't think is very toyota of them. You’d have to pull up the spec sheet but the rear leg room looks at least 2” smaller than previous gen. That was the first thing I noticed on the new Taco, second thing I noticed which put the nail in the coffin was the price. The Taco, especially if you want the hybrid goes up to like 63k CAD, which can get you into a pretty nice F150 or Sierra. I think this thing spec for spec will be about 3k more than the current MSRP and the Hybrid will only be offered on the TRD-Sport Premium +, Off-Road Premium +, and the Limited and TRD-Pro/Trailhunter. Premium + is an 11k upgrade, and TRD-PRO around 15k, so the Off-Road Premium + will probably be around 68-70k cad. With the Pro pushing 75k…If I was in the market for a 4Runner I’d be jumping out right now and getting a new last gen and spending the difference on aftermarket upgrades, you will never save the price difference in fuel. Imagine a Bronco Sasquatch with another 10k in upgrades or a Rubicon.

@@ChocobohunterWell Toyota is the most stolen vehicle in my area so it doesn't matter if car will last forever since it won't be in your possession. The existing insurance policy doesn't cover stolen vehicles for some strange reason. You have to double your premium if you want stolen car coverage. I know I was also surprise to find that out. Toyota doesn't do anything to improve anti-theft feature on their vehicles neither.

Love the reviews and you two are my favorite to watch. I think the trio all missed a big opportunity with not having a plug in version as well as a good 3rd row. Even the Sequoia has a horrible 3rd row that doesn’t fold flat. The closest one would be the Grand Highlander but it’s not very masculine. Still waiting on the perfect Land Cruiser/4Runner so I can trade in my current SUV.

Tbh the only thing the old v6 had going for it was that it was the most reliable engine on the planet. For years everyone was joking that only Toyota could make a v6 that was as sluggish as a 4 cylinder but got the fuel economy of an 8 cylinder. With the new hybrid powertrain they solve all the problems the v6 had. More power, more torque, and better fuel economy. No more jokes about the 4runner going 55 in the right lane just to maintain 13mpg. Give it a couple of years and everyone will question why they ever doubted Toyota's hybrid system and complained about them putting an objectively better engine in the 4runner.

We will see about that reliability though.

@@JJ-nu8qi it's a hybrid Toyota. Toyota has made their hybrids more reliable than their ice only counterpoints. Plus Toyota has a great record with turbocharged engines. The reliability hesitancy would make sense if this were Chrysler, but with Toyota, the engine should be the thing everyone's least concerned about.

@@sethmeaseles3301 They are replacing 100000 engines and reports that their new transmissions are going bad also.

@@JJ-nu8qi that's due to negligence by their American manufacturers on the ice only line. They failed to properly clean out the engine block after milling. It's not an issue with the engine itself because none of the hybrid models that use the same exact engine are experiencing the same issues.

1 gripe after sitting in the 2024 Tacoma which appears to be the same in this video is the height of the dash. You can't see the front passenger side of the hood to judge any distances. "am I 2 inches from scrapping the side of that car or am I 2 feet away?"

The Land Cruiser Prado and Lexus GX have always been twins, some parts on previous generations are quite interchangeable. The 4Runner has been more of a Tacoma mate, although earlier versions were basically SUV Hiluxes

its irritating how they don't seem to acknowledge the fact that the Land Cruiser they are getting in the U.S. is actually the 4th gen PRADO, which as you say, has always been the GX twin, while the real Land Cruiser 300 is out there.

All I heard was “Toyota TRD Pro Trail Hunter Land Cruiser 4Runner GX Tacoma Off-roader 4 cylinder Toyo 4 wheel drive all wheel drive differential heavy duty,” and I officially have no idea which is which or why you buy one over the other. So I think you just pick what you want your wheel arches to look like, which shade of mud you like, and then go from there?

I like the look of how the rear glass wraps into the roof, but the windows themselves don't, so that's just a styling element. That decorative glass is very vulnerable when loading stuff onto the roof rack...not that many folks will.
