Thanks for the shoutout brother! You skimmed that soooo nice. I’m with you on the squeegee too. We also throw another log in the fire when we are done our sauna session to bake the room a little and remove moisture.

Smart thinking to put a floor with a drain in a sauna. Seen a lot of cabin/sauna build where they seem to have forgotten this step! Are you going to put on some sort of concrete sealer?

i was thinking about it... i don't know what's good tho. any recommendations?

Did he used Portland cement or any special kind special mix that do not crack? I think if simple Portland cement 05-1cm thickness is used it will definitely crack..

Nice video! Did you consider doing an "open floor" with gaps between the board for drainage (no cement or cement board)
@AndrewSzeto2 жыл бұрын
so that would have been basically putting the planks of cedar and calling it a day haha. I really wanted to insulate the bottom as it would have been fairly drafty i feel like, soo drain i went!

@@AndrewSzeto yeah, many sauna old timers have the floor open to the air

did you endd up covering the drain? some sort of cap during sauna'íng to stop the cold air from coming up?
@AndrewSzeto Жыл бұрын
oooh so i really should. atm, i'm using a glove to cover it while it's heating up. I will have to figure out a better cap system.

Nice job man! hows it holding up and treating you so far? how many bags of mortor mix did u end up using to fill in the spaces of the spacers?
@AndrewSzeto2 жыл бұрын
so it was 2 bags of concrete overall! 1.5 for spacing and i saved 1/2 a bag for the finish coat. I'm still in the building process, but it's holding up for sure, so i'm stoked!
