since air is compressible it is to me impossible to have that fan pumping more air the than the OEM one does , at first look that fan seems to have much less drag than the OEM one just comparing the pitches between them. I think that the only good thing about this fan is that it obviously sucks less horsepower to get driven .
@1nightkid Жыл бұрын
Not really in thoughs of pumping air rather than in terms of a boat propeller, ilusimg pitch and blade with to make a more streamlined flow, now is it the percentage gain they advertise.. not so much, but that being said the stock was Crack very easily over these 30 years and I feel it was the better option for me to replace
@Thinkfit2473 жыл бұрын
the quality is bad 👎 i bought those and after 2 months they blow up into Pieces one of the blades hit the hood and create a dent from the inside up ...i went back to OEM
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
That crazy! I truly only know 1 that has blown up in Australia
@Thinkfit2473 жыл бұрын
@@1nightkid yes actually they are cheaply made and you can feel the blades are weak they can't hold up the heat that comes from the 300zx

Does the new fan sound any different/better? This was a very helpful post. My '94 makes me a little nervous when it's really hot out, or bogged traffic.
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
Haven't noticed any more sound from them honestly, and mine definitely would get a bit warm in stopped traffic and heat soaked, I have noticed a small difference in the new fan but I also don't drive it as a daily lol
@Dev4663t2 жыл бұрын
is there any difference on temperature with these fans? I saw one comment where you said no noticeable change and another that said u saw a slight change. was hoping to hear how it performed up to date. were you happy with the upgrade or better stick with stock?
@1nightkid2 жыл бұрын
Didn't notice a difference at 1st as it wasn't on very hot days, so fast forward and I did notice a small difference but not enough for me to replace a perfectly good fan.. if yours is cracking then I would swap them, after that I even changed the radiator to get more cooling. I still am using that fan and am happy with it, especially for the price
@Dev4663t2 жыл бұрын
@@1nightkid thank you so much for the feedback. When you slight change any chance you remember how many degrees improvement? Like 5°c ish or more?
@johnwinks2 жыл бұрын
@@Dev4663t I would say at least 5° on a very hot day at 120km my engine would get very hot on a quick 30 min trip, that same trip it did not get nearly that hot, and now after a twin core radiator it's even better
@Dev4663t2 жыл бұрын
@@johnwinks awesome mate. I think that would do. As long as its a lil better than the stock. Should be worth it. Dont mind the extra noise. Ill take that 5c improvement 😂. Seriously appreciate it.

Awesome! And thank you! I have 2 more and this is my 5th z total, Full adjustable coilovers with full suspension components, Custom full length exhaust and intake pipes, Jim wolf ecu, and now radiator fan, and of course better spec poly body kit and 18x10.5 wheels with a hell of a stretch lol 1st thing you should do is suspension, make it handle way better

How is the cooling with that fan?? I installed it on my on a hot day in cali (100's) and seems like the old craked oem fan is better at keeping the temps down so i had to put the oem back on and keeps the temp below 200
@1nightkid4 жыл бұрын
Sadly I have not noticed a difference either, but we also have not been over 70 until now, but we will be in the 80s and 90s in the next few weeks in which I hope to do a major test on it and hope to see good numbers
@ElSesh3 жыл бұрын
Could have sworn the oem fan is better than gk tech?
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
Problem is that a lot of people were running no shrouds, they got the fan to better the cooling but infact got worse. Sometimes even buying them to fix another cooling problem they already had and miss diagnosed. I did it because my stock one is cracked heavily and still am running my shroud
@jeanka_823 ай бұрын
I got my installed on my RB, sit on traffic it get to 100+, the OEM fan was cooling my car better in traffic it was never more than 90, but on the run the gktech goes to 79c, so I don't get why in traffic it is worse than OEM, ps. I have no shroud but the OEM worked fine without one
@johnamez9093 жыл бұрын
how did the fan work??? can you provide with the link
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
Worked well, as long as you keep your factory shroud for sure, plus with my stock fan having cracks it is one less thing I have to worrie about
@johnamez9093 жыл бұрын
@@1nightkid did you.notice an improvement in cooling??
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
I actually did notice a difference, I drove it in 90+ Temps after this swap and at a stand still with the hood open you could notice how much more air it seemed to push
@Moon___man3 жыл бұрын
Did it actually make a difference?
@1nightkid3 жыл бұрын
I actually did see a noticeable difference especially at a stand still, my 1 takeaway on this is if you had a turbocharged 300zx, 240, or gtr.. idk if the cooling properties could could keep up with the turbos adding even more heat, but couple that with a good radiator I bet it would be a great pairing.

False claims, 40% more air flow than the OEM RB fan. Does NOT flow more than the OEM Z32 fan
@1nightkid6 ай бұрын
Possible, but 4 years of testing so far and Temps seem to be lower in standing traffic than previously experienced. I think stock would be beneficial but for an alternative it seems to do the job
@ryantzerАй бұрын
@peterliang1294 Where are you getting the data to back up your statement?
@peterliang1294Ай бұрын
@@ryantzer Ask Gktech if they have data to support their claim of 40% more than vs the Z32 oem fan. They do not; claims are for the SR and RB fans as these were originally designed for those platforms. Just because they bolt onto a z32 platform doesn’t mean it flows more than the z32 oem fan. Quoted from their site “flows 40% more than the RB fan”. There was a z32 owner from AUS that compared the z32 oem fan and this, flowed 15% less.
