Hi Charlie. I think you answered the question about why we don't have many trees in Bolton when you showed the low level cctv camera. Trees give shade from the sun and cctv. How can the council monitor everyone if foliage gets in the way? Better to be constantly watched and roast than have a pleasant environment. The irony that there's very little left to steal hasn't reached the council. The Crown court was covered with stone that was cut the wrong way and looked crap within months. In the wettest town in England most stone goes green but that started crumbling. There was a nice Barbara Hepworth piece outside it but it was moved in case anyone weighed it in as scrap. Welcome to Bolton...

Bolton Council was run by Labour for decades until fairly recently and accepted one of the highest intakes of asylum seekers in the UK as it was a source of money from central government and a pool of future voters. Labour has finally been kicked out and the town now has a Conservative MP and a coalition Conservative lead Council. It's slowly improving. Charlie mentioned the lack of trees - a large project is about to start to add trees to the streets. It will take decades to reverse the damage inflicted, but it's possible and the town has potential. Bury Council about 5 miles away offers a blueprint and has transformed itself into far better place than Bolton.

yeah so much as changed since then. The water place going was a big one then they removed all the trees and modernized the marketplace to make it look like a generic shopping centre (although the vaults and cinema is a decent upgrade), the Crompton place is pretty much empty due for demolition soon. I know a lot of towns have suffered due to online shopping etc but Bolton as gone downhill much quicker than other places. Bury still seems to do well and doesn't face the problems to the same extent as us. Bolton was a nice town, even in the early 2000s it was thriving but these last 10-15 years has seen the town massively spiral out of control. you can't walk through it now without a druggy asking you for money. I now live in wales and everytime I do come to Bolton to see family and friends it's just so depressing

Most of his collection workshop and steam engines were sold off . The best the council could do was a statue and some random iron pump and to spend 1/2 million on surfacing the road to the heritage Center . Bolton has a steam museum full of working engines in haliwell near Morrison's supermarket

@@thomasstanley5401 The town centre been killed by aggressive parking enforcement and high parking charges as well as large numbers of beggars (who are now banned from the town centre and so stand at every major road junction instead). Bury was in the same boat as Bolton and yet has transformed it's town by bulldozing the crap and replacing it with high quality shopping developments and flats. I'm right with you Charlie, I worked in casinos for 2 years in Blackpool before going to the ships for 11 years in the casino department. In the 2 years on land I saw all kinds of gamblers. The taxi driver trying to double his fare he'd just earned, the chavs with expensive clothes trying to recoup the spending, the chinese trying to double their profits for the evening, the wealthier middle class who try their hand at a high roller table, and then the mature ones who have very little but decided that its a good night out. All mostly walk away with empty pockets, but will return the next day, and the next, etc. Do you remember a time in the early 2000's when advertising gambling became illegal? Well it's all changed now and it's the celebrities who are now endorsing this vile addiction on the people, it turns my stomach when I hear a new advert with a popular celeb, who's sold his/her soul for a tasty payout for themselves to endorse such a wicked addiction on the public. But alas we are all lambs to the slaughter and we're just going to keep feeding the oligarchs their riches until we are left to rot. Yeah a beautiful world we live in ☠️🌍 the world is broken 💔

Bolton is very nice. Spacious, Indian population, University students, amazing architecture, sculpture etc.... . It is used in TV and film. . Why not visit Wigan and find out why Beijing has stopped demolition work. Is it because the Council realised it was predatory lending to actually take ownership of Wigan town center? First it was £130 million, then £190 million, then....it stopped. Visit Platt Bridge, Ince, Marsh Green, Leigh.......maybe talk to the natives? The world is full of ifs and buts, we make our own choices good and bad. Choices !

But overall it's still better because physically, his body stopped being on drugs, even if only for a couple of days, and that's half the battle. It may not be cost effective but it is still good they were forced to stop. They only have to make the right choice to swear off them once, so it's at least possible. That's why I think every beggar, "homeless", and smackhead should be picked up every time for vagrancy, kept 24 hours, over and over again until the cummulative effect of enforced abstinence and maybe even just the sheer boredom of it makes them realise it's not worth the candle. Or at least makes them think about how not to get caught easily i.e, don't wander around begging in broad daylight because you will definitely always be arrested and always stay smack-free for 24 hours.

The plant is Himalayan Balsam. Indeed it is an invasive species, brought here as an ornamental plant but becoming wide spread around 1855. Some plants can produce up 2,500 seeds and have the ability to shoot them up to a distance of 5 meters. This is why they’re so successful at taking over and area. They drown out our native plants although very good for our Bees.

Try walking through a load, above head hight and try not to jump as all the seed heads explode around you.... I have loads growing but they smother the water hemlock so I like them.

This is actually a sick video. Did you ever find out if it was a brothel or a school? 🤣 It was kinda sad seeing you apologise for filming the fish, honestly it made a nice change, we enjoy your commentary on human social behaviour..... and ducks somewhat recently, why not fish too?! 😂

Just finished the video, Liam reminds me a lot of myself and my opinion on you/your content/some of the critique I've commented before. Fair play not only for listening to him, but for leaving it in the video, honestly massive respect for that, it would of been so easy to not broadcast criticism on your own channel, agree with you or not, you always either show or portray both sides to a question. ♥️

@pokemrstark7089 I was born in Bolton in the early 50's and left there in 1977 to live in the U.S. I spent many, many, hours in the museum and aquarium as a child and was happy to see the aquarium was still there. Maybe some of those bigger fish are the same ones from all those years ago. I would like to think so......but then again.....what an "eternity" for them to still be living a mundane captured life in such a small area. That makes me very sad and that goes for any of God's creatures. Also the words "Girls/Boys" carved into the stone pillars were the entrances to the respective areas of Bolton Grammar School which has been closed for many years.

I was in York in April with the kids and I was taking a picture of them stood on the steps of the law courts with the Clifford tower in the background and the security guard came out of the law courts building and said there's no photography allowed so I stood at the bottom of of the steps and took a photograph of the children with the Clifford tower in the background from the public pavement (sidewalk) I said to the security guard you have got nothing else better to do " your bored and that security guard coming out of the law courts building in Bolton reminded me of that incident

Calling Russians Orcs is not a good sign! Don't dehumanise the Russian soldier or they will have no choice but to remain the enemy. They have been betrayed as much as the Ukrainians if not more having been ordered to die fruitlessly by their own Government. If we want a happy ending here we need to come together not build more separation!
