The belly-aching they did about Cochran flipping on them was so tiring to listen to - they kicked the kid around the entire first half and made it clear he was on the bottom then were shocked when he had no loyalty. They got what they deserved.

Underrated Season. Competitive Premerge with two tribes that are actually evenly matched. (That NEVER happens anymore, there's always a superior tribe from the get go). Coach actually evolves into a competent Survivor Player. And Sophie is a No Nonsense Badass, and I love her (WAY before WaW when it was suddenly cool to like her).

My favorite secret is they had to restart the opening turtle puzzle because Ozzy and Coach had no idea how it was supposed to work.

How is Sophie a coattail rider? She was there when the Upolo alliance was formed. She did the heavy lifting strategically. Kept Brandon and Albert in line. She was a huge part of that alliance. So tell me who’s coattails she rode

She literally flipped the script on the typical "young girl in her early 20's riding the coattails of the more strategic older man" that had just become common place in the show. By endgame, she became the lead strategist that kept the alliance together, put the nail in the coffin of the opposition by beating Ozzy when they absolutely needed to, and then even called Coach the little girl in the alliance at final tribal. It was absolutely brilliant.

It think people on her season perceived her as a coattail rider because she was so good at keeping the spotlight off of herself. She did so the strategic heavy lifting but nobody saw that, and that was intentional on her part. I think that’s why going into final tribal coach was the front runner for the jury because they had a screwed perception of the upollu alliance. That’s also why Sophie absolutely crushed coach at the end, because she was actually the one that did everything and so she was able to explain it. I think her win is pretty impressive because she played such a subtle yet smart game and explained it perfectly at the end

Not agreeing or disagreeing with this perception, but the perception of the anti-Sophie crowd is that she rode on Coach’s coat tails. Or at least she hid in his shadow. She was able to win in the end in large part because Coach took all of the heat.

Very underrated season. And Sophie's win is one of my favorites especially besting Coach and Ozzy. (This season really soured me on Ozzy. Glad he didn't win.)

@@varisrevolver4061 he didn’t abuse Brandon’s beliefs. That implies malice and intention. Coach really did believe what he preached, but saw the right strategic moves to make and made them. His downfall was that he wasn’t wise enough to separate those two things, which made him hypocritical, but he was still genuine

@@varisrevolver4061 I think it’s disingenuous and hypocritical, like I said, but in his mind it’s fully genuinely like “I know what the strategic thing to do here is, and I feel like that’s the right way to go, even though it makes me feel conflicted” Coach is a deeply flawed character, he grows each season he plays, but he never fully grasps how to fit his personal convictions to his game instincts, and it’s always his undoing, first in looking like an idiot and being completely outmaneuvered in Tocantins, then in being noncommittal because of internal conflict and not solidifying a power alliance in HvV, then finally in committing fully to the strategy, but failing to reconcile that with his morals and beliefs, and crumbling at the end in South Pacific. At no point does he wish harm to others or intentionally inflict harm on others. He struggles with himself and makes bad choices, but he’s never malicious. That’s what makes him such a great character and so relatable

Love the videos but I think you should consider revamping the thumbnails for this series. Having people in the thumbnail seems to do better and you could have a little tease about one of the secrets in the thumbnail. Just a random fans opinion

Not to my knowledge. Personally, the S tier Dvd's are seasons 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, and 10. A Tier would be seasons 3-29, B Tier are seasons 30-41, and with Ponderosa gone, season 42 feels so barebones.

I would say that the DVD's for seasons 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, and 10 are gold. They come with fun bonus features and even feature the DVD commentaries by the players. Well worth it. Season 3-29 are still solid and have a random assortment of fun extras with ponderosa starting during season 16 and seasons 14 and prior having extra TV interviews. Seasons 30 and beyond are basically just the show, a secret scene for each episode, and the ponderosas.

It was so sad that coach lost. I always hated Sophie, especially in Winners at war. She was basically a weasel the whole season, not making any moves at all and just relying on Coach getting his hands dirty.
