I liked the ambulance conversions more so than the regular van conversions mainly for space. I do remember the truck box campers of the 70's-80's & I don't see it in some Overlanders today.

Honestly I think it fucking sucks. All these stupid high hood, cliffs of dover meets 7 blade gillette radiator grill trucks do, the front blindspot is big enough to hide your supra in. Would rather have a camper conversion on a van chassis, since it's much more practical shape. The overhangs make it clear it's not actually going off road any more than some irish farmer's nissan micra is, so it's not like you'd miss the 4wd

You obviously have a pretty strong opinion on this build. Daryl wanted something a bit more accommodating for him and his pack. He mentioned he wasn't planning on going rock crawling but he doesn't really want to get stuck anywhere and not have a way out. Having 4WD makes more sense than not having it.

@@JustDriven The best way to have an accommodating camper build is to make maximum use of the vehicle's footprint for the living area. It fails right at the first hurdle.

When you have 7 dogs you're hauling around the entire truck cabin is a bed and with the passthrough to the camper having access to more living quarters it actually nails the usable space for what Daryl needs. So once again, this is perfect for Daryl...but clearly not for you, which is fine because he didn't buy this for you.
