Thanks for the video! Learned a lot as always :) I think it's important to mention the risks of flick serving are of course very high and in men's doubles they can easily smash it down. So I would advise to only use it, if the oponnent is really hunting down the low serve. In reality something like 5% flicks to middle, 10% flicks wide and the rest low serve variations would be a good idea

Great vid! The bit about standing behind your partner and slightly towards the backhand side is so underrated. The lift return to the backhand can be so dangerous, many struggle to return this

That's only because they don't want to do the around the head footwork, for some reason. 😶 They would rather watch the lift go up and over them, then try and play a backhand. No ideas why, but it just happens all of the time. 🤷‍♂️

Either which way standing slightly over to that side will help. It’ll always be harder to reach than the forehand side. Forehand better if you can do it agreed.

I don't think so. It's almost intuitive, almost everyone has a weak backhand so they cover that side before a serve.

Thank you Greg and Jenny - here in Bristol we do get to play some men's doubles (in a level doubles league) so this is really useful stuff. I do flick down the centre line quite often but hadn't thought about moving across to the opposite box so will try that next time 👍

The tip about server's partner position was great. I actually stand a a bit far back because at the low level, players either play fast push towards either corner or they lift it- so, I focus mainly on the lifts and go into attack mode. However, I'll admit, that also results in us losing points to the straight net shot (the deceptive ones are lethal). Great video, as usual!

1:59 Serving to the middle or their body. Predict the return based on their racket then intercept. 4:14 Serving to the sidelines, your forehand side. Either intercept with your forehand or watch the cross. 6:10 Flick to the corner. Watch the cross. 7:10 Flick to the middle to their forehand. Watch the cross. 7:27 Flick to the middle to their backhand. Watch the straight shot down the sideline, stay forward.

Honestly I love the video. It has a really creative flow. I am actually a website designer, an artist, and a 3D designer. I’m not very known by anyone famously but I can give you some tips. Maybe when you,re switching from topic to topic, you can add a little colored rectangle on the bottom of your screen. You could put a subtitle and an explanation of that topic in smaller text. Like: 02: (Subtitle) (Explanation). Also, I recommend using canva for your videos. Thanks!

another great video, with everything spot-on, and it looks like greg's preparing for a second career in the theatre the section of interceptions stands out for me. one thing i'd add there is a lot of intermediate players jump to the side to intercept, which is usually a mistake. when intercepting those return of serves it's best to stay low and move fast and smoothly, with low, neutral footing when you strike the shuttle, not with your momentum carrying you to the tramline, otherwise the next reply in going to be 1v2 excellent pointer to stop retreating and get centered before the shuttle is hit even if you are too far forward in the court. applies to return of serve and other situations in doubles the flick along the center line to the receiver's non-dominant side is a great serve, but it's best as a once-in-a-match surprise. try it twice in a match with a strong player and it's likely to come back at very high kph into your dominant shoulder the work ethic you guys show in every aspect of your careers is awesome. dont know how you do it and keep talking to each other

I tend to serve from the tramline side about halfway back.this allows me to assess where my opponent is standing and what sort of stance they’re taking and I use this to try and anticipate whether I should hit it to the front line (in front of them) or to hit it tot the back corner (on the center line) as I find this can leave the, unsure of whether I will get it in the serve area or not and make a difficult decision on their return.it’s a tough shot and I do sometimes miss the serve box but I do tend find a descent result of my opponent thinking it will go out of the serve area and leave it.

Great video with some great tips for beginners and intermediate players👍 I Just needed an advice on my deceptive doubles serve I do a low backhand serve, I aim my racket towards the T but i hit towards the very corner of the box in serving towards, eg: if I'm serving odd, then I'll aim my racket towards the T but hit the shuttle towards the extreme right corner so as to deceive the opponent. Do u think this is a good deceptive serve or should I just server normally?

Word! Drumline serves are great for intermediate players !F you make - consistent services - reliable services and - are able to hit the back right and front left corner of your target area from the same point of service with almost ;) the same style of serving (so your opponent's can't predict to which area you are serving) I recognized that the back right corner requires a skilled reliable backhand return which most intermediate or even advanced players can't deliver Working for me over 15 years .. winning me easily over 15 points in each match of an intermediate tournament - the opponents have usually less than 42 point to learn this specific return required :) :) :)
