The Daily Sib S2.E3
1) Access to food - whilst everyone is queueing online and offline, disabled people with a high susceptibility to the virus only have home delivery as an option. We are fighting against weeks of booked up slots.
2) Access to PPE/Protective clothing - it's amazing NHS and medical professionals are gradually getting access to vital protective clothing. Thousands of disabled people like me need care support at home. There's no supply, though, to protect ourselves and our staff from the virus.
3) Back up care support - If a PA catches Covid19, finding back up support is difficult at the best of times. What would people like myself do in this stressful time?...
4) Mental health and wellbeing - I'm usually gallivanting all over the place. My book is on world travel! So the thought of 12 weeks, possibly longer, at home isn't good. I'm exploring how to stay happy, as are the other 1.5m people being told to stay home.
Solutions - We're creative innovative survivors! I'm speaking with disabled activists, the disability community, brands, NHS and other stakeholders. We will find the answers!
See you next week. Have a great weekend :-)
