Bridged diode is the fifth type like the old Neve comps. There’s also a pulse-width modulation comp is the sixth type. Both also found in plugin form. The PWM is what the waves pye compressor is.

Great input there. My question is for upfront vocals which of the types is suitable? And for bass which is preferred!

For vocals either a FET at the top of the chain or an opto at the end. But the emulation of the 670 tube compressor from Universal Audio works perfectly as well. Really depends on the situation and type of vocals. For bass, definitely a FET comp

@@Electrolesh 15 dB may be a bit too much, 6-7 dB is generally recommended. But honestly if your ears are used to it, don't change your workflow!
