Awesome job and great looking door. I used this video to make my door as well. I had to custom my door because my opening was 21" wider, so I added the length to my 1X10's and 1X6 header and footer. You gave me the confidence to attempt the build, you made it look super easy. The hardest part for me was getting up and down on the floor. I'm not as young as you, or your project manager.Thanks again

Excellent. I have so much wood laying around my deck and house I can't wait to build a few things this summer from your channel. I love the bathroom rack that has shelves and a towel holder. If people are resourceful, they could do a lot of your projects for almost free. Old wood is everywhere, just gotta know where to look.

Great idea, you will be playing peek a boo through the gaps in the boards though when it shrinks. I would add a piece of 1/4" luann plywood between the surrounding 1x6. Other than that its a great idea.

Well, it was a great project if used as a tutorial, but certainly not $40. I spent about $70 on basic pine without the rolling hardware. But somethings you might want to know. I would use 1 1/4 inch trim screws. The 1 1/2 inch screws came through the other side. But lots of fun and looks great. Thanks.
@TheRehabLife6 жыл бұрын
The cost of wood can vary in different areas, we made ours for $40 but the price can certainly increase in other parts of the country. The video also specifies 1 1/4" trim head screws in the materials list so the they don't come through the other side. Thanks for watching and glad it turned out great!

You’re dimensions suggest 1.5 inch depth but you use two 1inch pieces around the edge making it 2 inch depth. Do you have hardware that can support 2 inch depth; most use 1.25 to 1.75 in depth. Also your dimensions suggest 83.25 height but you use 9 10 inch boards making it 90 inches tall. Does it turn out ok by cutting two boards near the base and top to shorten door?
@TheRehabLife6 жыл бұрын
The actual depth of a 1" board is 3/4" so the total depth will be 1.5". The actual width of a 10" board is 9 1/4" so the height will turn out to 83 1/4" using nine pieces so you should be good with standard door hardware!

I’m excited to get this project started! Ive purchased the smaller items i.e. wood glue,screws, etc. I love the idea of being able to customize with paint or stain, hardware, etc. pardon me but but by no means am I a carpenter. These measurements are to clear a standard height doorway right? Any chance you could help a brother out with measurements to clear a 90 inch doorway with no trim?
@TheRehabLife6 жыл бұрын
Adding another horizontal 1"x10" will give you a height of 92 1/2". Just make sure your vertical pieces are now 92 1/2" instead of 83 1/4" and you'll be good to go! Good luck with the build!

I have a door opening where the max height barn door could be is 71” to fit track. Was thinking of just using 7 of the 1x10 (64.75) and 1 x 6 at the end. Would you split the 1.6 in half for the top and bottom for aesthetics/balance or would it not matter?
