So when I was 12 I think we would go to JCPenney back when they had stores and they would have bargain bins of VHS tapes and one of the first VHS tapes that I bought was the corpse vanishes I got that one White zombie and Vincent Price's shock I love these old films I love your spin on them and just keep doing a fantastic job

Boris Karloff wasn't filming Arsenic and Old Lace, he was appearing in the stage production

And it's a d*mn shame he wasn't able to do the film. Raymond Massey may come close to looking the part, but he doesn't have Karloff's wonderful voice.

❤ 😊 My inner teacher THANKS YOU for correctly putting your apostrophes in front of the 4 in '40s! Made my morning! 🎉

Thanks for including the Letterman connection! That was my introduction to Bowery at Midnight. I kept expecting the Bowery Boys to show up.

I swear, if I had a quarter for every horror movie in the 30's and 40's that featured Atwell or Zucco, I'd have as many quarters as there were horror films in the 30's and 40's!

I love The Corpse Vanishes. I've watched it so many damn times and I don't know why. The Devil Bat and Corpse Vanishes I think are my fav Lugosi performances.

Love these yearly jaunts down horror memory lane! As usual, I have most of the titles on DVD. Only missing "The Night Has Eyes", this time, though I have seen it.

CAT PEOPLE does feature two very famous scenes in it that should up it's grading: the walk to the bus stop, and the swimming pool scenes.

It's very telling that the studio heads hated Cat People, and it's become a classic.

The only thing “mad” about the Mad Monster are those crazy over-sized hats!!! They made cowboys’ hats look small.

I've been watching your content for a while now and it's awesome I think you should make a movie compilation of movies that are in the public domain and put them in categories that you like I think maybe you should get into that that may be a good thing for you

Karloff wasn’t in Arsenic & Old Lace (1944). That was Ray Massey… who of course is described as looking like Karloff. Unless Karloff was in a stage version?
@SiloSoundStudiosАй бұрын
i think Karloff was doing the stage production in NY at that time.

@@SiloSoundStudios He was, and the play has the same line about Mortimer looking like Karloff.

Not seen too many of this year it seems, but I can't see any of the others beating Cat People. It has such great, creepy atmosphere

I saw that when they made Frankenstein meets the Wolfman, Lugosi's lines were cut, remember at the end of the last film he became blind, and all of this was cut from the next film

I love Cat People. I think I have seen every Val Lewton movie multiple times.
@kelleyceccato7025Ай бұрын
42:46 -- Lewtoooon! The REAL master of 1940s horror has arrived! The sad thing is that "Cat People" is very OBVIOUSLY the best horror film of 1942. It has no real competition. Lewton was given a title and he made it his mission to do something interesting with it; the other guys were just phoning it in.

Cat People should be 5 for horror cultural significance. It's credited as inventing the jump scare, a staple of horror movies.
