As always, an excellent review. I'm tempted, this seems like a very good HTPC/light gaming machine for a reasonable price. But the Ryzen 6000 series has a much faster iGPU, so I'm probably going to wait for that. Hopefully they'll keep this form factor/case and put a Ryzen 6000 series APU in it when they can.

To be fair they are marketing it as LIGHT gaming PC which is completely fair. Ideally it should have had better cooling so it can run 45w. It would have been a really great deal then

Yes this with a beefier cooler to run the H APU at 45W or 54W would have been great. Then the Vega iGPU could hold 1800Mhz without the minor throttling down to 1650Mhz.

Chris can you start telling us if these have Bluetooth on board and connect up a bunch of devices to measure their capability. Secondly, I’d love to see you start to try these with holoiso and run them as a living room tv connected steam box.

I have Lenovo Slim 7 with Ryzen 4800U so Vega8 there too. From newer gamed I can play Wreckfest, Vermintide 1 & 2, and Division 2 and Forza Horizon games with it.

The power dial does not work immediately. You need to reboot after changing it.

Manjaro would be a better fit as it has AMD drivers baked in already. Most hardware seems to be supported as well.

Thanks for the review as always Chris. Honestly this is not too bad, for the PC itself. At 500€ for a 5600u, 16+512 is a fair price. Quite silly to call it a Gaming Mini PC though! I wish we could see more of them with a dGPU. There are really few options available with one.

Yes to me you can't call it a gaming pc without a proper dedicated GPU. But I will have a few of them coming soon in a month or so. Minis Forum and maybe Beelink.

With old games, yes... Cyberpunk at 720p and settings lowered down, is not exactly what I would call a gaming MiniPC 😅 But for the price looks decent and we can't expect much on the gaming side, although they advertise it so.

i have the deck and this arm 5 mini pc and they run games really good i put holo steam os on it and windows dual boot and 32 gig of fury ram 16 gig for vram and this lil guy does almost as good as my deck with steam os on the pc and its like a mini console real easy for my lady to play her games and not need me to set it up each time for her im very impressed with this machine

Basically steamdeck performance for a steamdeck like price You don't get a gamepad and screen along with it, but you get more RAM and Storage. imo not that interesting unless you really like how it looks. Shame it doesn't have a better (would help performance) and quieter cooling solution.

It's s good mini PC but only for fairly light gaming. If people really want a gaming mini PC then Minisforum is few of the better ones on the market. Especially their NUC X15 & X17, HX90G and ofc the B550. There's also from Zotac but only their Magnus One is available for purchase with 10th gen desktop and Zotac Twin Edge GPU support. They do have mini PC with laptop parts but it's hard to come by. Mini PC gaming is gaining a healthy momentum now.

It is yes and some others that run 54W APU's with vega graphics I've reviewed in the past will do even better, 35-40 FPS Cyberpunk at 720p lowest settings.

slight improvement on iGPU PCs as this one costs the same or slightly less than 5600u laptops. But then, I'd like prices for iGPU PCs to be more aggressive. They currently have poor value vs laptops or DIY ITX build.

Why not test 4K video editing on one of the mini PCs in the Linux operating system ? 4K perfectly edits, for example, the Shotcut program.

When I was the first to get phones and other tech, I would gain 10k subs a month. Now 1-2k as I'm not first anymore. Plus people are more nowadays after 6 minute videos. I'm not sure what I can do, I cannot beat the guys living in China that get tech 2-3 weeks before me. It is what it is. Part of the reason is I'm not just reviewing one thing, like only phones or mini pcs. I cover many topics due to this I loose a lot of subs. People sub for phones later I review a mini PC they unsubscribe.

TBF, 4K60 on KZbin is AV1 and theoretically, only Tiger Lake, Alder Lake, and Rembrant can play it fine, especially on chrome which is st*pidly power hog

The question is why would we buy 499$ mini pc, if we can buy better laptop for under 500$. For example, Asus zenbook 14, it got ryzen 5 5000u, 8gb ram, nvidia mx 450 gpu with good ips display and h/k sounds in slim lightweight ultra portable design.
