I have been using a Ryzen 3 4300G as a Plex server for about a year now. It does hardware transcoding without any issues. Before that I was using an AMD A10 and that didn't have any issues doing hardware transcoding either. Both machines use the AMD onboard graphics no graphics card was added.

I have this mini pc and all it does is restart randomly whenever I use it. Can't figure out why. Other than that it's pretty nice. It's brand new btw.

Heating problem for sure. I have it too and discovered the SSD main chip was hot as hell doing simple tasks. I resolved it by using a small heatsink for it.

By the way, I have also installed an external 120mm fan below the mini PC that pushes fresh air into it and reduces heating some more.

I have one of these boxes. Windows started getting flaky, and I would get the blue screen of death. Also, my Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wasn't working properly. I took it apart and found the NVMe stick had a hell of a bow in it, so much that it was touching the Wi-Fi module. I cloned it to a good NVMe 2 TB stick and added a flat copper heatsink to it. Now everything seems to be working fine. The cloned drive only took 512gb of space. Instead of expanding the partition, I made the extra 1.5TB into a separate drive.

Very curious on this little Ryzen mini PCs. I've got an older custom ASRock miniPC around an Athlon 200GE running the TV in my gym. It does the job, but it may be time for a little upgrade.

@@nhansgoofyvideos7581 Maybe, but I don't think so. I'd have to double check the bios CPU support list for it, but I think it topped out with the Ryzen 3xx0 series. Could drop in a 3500G maybe, but I don't think it'd really be worth the cost. The PSU on this little thing isn't exactly robust.

Does it come with a proper OEM embed Windows license in the bios? Another vendor Beelink is using MAK install keys. If the drive dies and it will your almost SOL getting a key to re-install Windows.

What docking station do you have? I have a cheap $20 one and I can't get the rear USC-C port to work to power the unit at the same time. The power light flashes on the PC and that's it.

I've had the 5800U variant running Proxmox for a couple weeks now and so far so good. Only challenging issue is GPU passthrough for video encoding. All the options are in the BIOS but I still can't get /dev/dri/renderd128 to show up when IOMMU is enabled. Other PCI devices (Coral M.2 Accelerator) pass through just fine so I suspect a BIOS issue. I'll probably ask on their forums since they seem quite active Also just for the curious, I have an opnsense VM for my router/firewall and it performs great. I get my full 1 Gig internet speeds in normal use. Haven't tried VPN etc but I think it'll handle it ok. Then I'm also running Homeassistant with Frigate for my 6 cameras hence the Coral board and it doesn't skip a beat although CPU usage is a little high right now since I can't get GPU passthrough working for hardware encoding/decoding

Thanks for the excellent review which persuaded me to buy this mini PC. Works great! The only thing that didn't work was the connectivity with my thunderbolt hp docking station HSTNN-CX01. It is a docking station with the capability to deliver power. When hooked to the USB C port on the rear side of this mini PC, it won't even power up. Any suggestions?

If it’s a thunderbolt dock it won’t work with it - it would need usb-4 for that.

Been working great for a few days under Proxmox hosting several VMs. Recommended, with all the caveats Lon mentioned about lesser known manufacturers. Might blow up one day, but that's exactly what backups are for and Proxmox would make replacing it super easy.

I have been running Proxmox on this exact box for a couple days now, including a pfSense VM due to the dual NIC capability - works great and was able to bridge the dual NICs to the VM without issue. Just want to bump the RAM so I can host even more VMs with it!

USB 3.0 can also serve as video connectors for full HD with at least stereo sound and multi touch monitors, each powered directly off the USB 3.0 port. USB Type-C is just a connector. You need to tell the audience the maximum speed of the connector. It can be a slow as USB 1.1 and still have the Type-C connector. You also need to disclose the speed of the USB 3.x ports. Gen this or that is confusing to so many people. Please just quote the actual tested and verified speeds. Not what the ad sheet claims it can do. These Communist Chinese made little PC makers aren't known for the quality and honesty.

I completely agree! One should mention the speed of the USB3 or USB Type-C ports because they can be 5 Gbps, 10 Gbps or even 20 Gbps.
