I use this dashcam for my channel where I showcase roads and drives in my home country of Australia, and I've always been very impressed by the footage quality. The only issue I've had was with the dashcam overheating and occasionally skipping 3 seconds of footage, which can be rectified by blowing cold aircon onto the windscreen when filming. Otherwise, I have no complaints with the camera!

Thanks for your video. This is the only dual dashcam I found affordable so far with good quality. I do have 2 questions before I buy for my first car: 1: Does it keep recording of some 20-30 sec clip before the impact along ? if yes do I need to connect directly with battery or Car charger? 2: You showed a hardwire cable. Is it for 24*7 recording? I only need in case of crash or theft movement. Which cable to be used with what settings? Unfortunately can't test this feature.

Yeah, this is a screen folio. It adds a layer between the windshield and the adhesive tape on the camera. Makes it much easier to remove, because you peel of the folio and this goes away together with the dashcam. I use this approach since years because saves me a lot of time and efforts - cause I often change dash cameras. And it is 100% safe. it will not make the dashcam mount loose or something. Hi, I’ve been watching your videos for some time now, and I decided to buy my first dash cam (Viofo A129 Pro Duo). After using the dash cam for 3 weeks, and reviewing my test footage I have a question. What are the Pros & Cons of 4K30fps vs. 2K60fps, (when filming with a dash cam at daytime, and night time)? I asked because, when I review my test footage, and pause a video to read road signs, or license plates, I can’t tell the difference between 4K30fps, or 2K60fps. However, when I watch the video on playback, the 2K60fps is more appealing to my eyes. I also noticed the file sizes are almost identical between the two. I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this subject. -Chuck
@TechMishka4 жыл бұрын
Hey Chuck, that's an awesome question! And what you describe - that you find the 60p smoother, is exactly as it is supposed to be. In the camera world there's this thing called "shutter speed" - shich is nowadays electronically controlled. Ideally - shutter speed should be twice the frame rate. But in such small cameras - it is not, and is much higher. Basically - this is the time when the shutter remains "opened". If it is opened for too short - the sensor "sees" less details (our eyes work in a similar way). So, in 60fps the shutter speed is higher, and sometimes you may get less details. This is more obvious in low light situations, because in daylight the light reaching the sensor is enough. Bottomline - during the day - 60FPS will give you better chance to see more details (60 frames per second - meaning 60 very fast shots during that second). In night the 30fps mode should be slightly more detailed. Hope this all makes sense.
@PanzerPlatform4 жыл бұрын
@@TechMishka Thanks for the reply. This makes perfect sense. So maybe I should run 4K 30fps at night, and 2K 60 during daylight. This helped me a lot. Thanks again. -Chuck

Great info: questions - can you give some of the standard menu settings that are preferred in normal using this product - parking mode & regular usage
@TechMishka2 жыл бұрын
I almost always stick to the defaults. Usually prefer 1080p, so that more footage can be stored. And - switch to H.265 for better compression.

@tech4all Hi! would you know if it is possible to turn off the time and date stamp as well as the product name from the video output file? I'd like a clean image on the output video. Thanks so much!
@TechMishka3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can turn them off. I keep them on for these reviews because it's easier to figure out which is the dash cam footage.

Hello which sim card and size works better for VIOFO A129 Pro 4K DashCam?
@TechMishka4 жыл бұрын
Pick a good U3 card and you will be fine. Samsung 64GB Evo U3 worked fine.
@jamiestewart81472 жыл бұрын
So do you need to have 2 SD cards(one for each camera) or otherwise ?
@TechMishka2 жыл бұрын
You only need one microSD card. The signal from the rear camera comes to the front unit and gets recorded there.

Great dash camera and video Micheal! But the dynamic range seems to be not comparable with smartphone cameras. So I am not sure if I need it or it is better to use my smartphone as a dash cam. I hope one time to watch your opinion about home surveillance cameras. I more need to guard my car on parking lot than in moving.
@TechMishka4 жыл бұрын
Same here! My car is kind of old, and doesn't have rear-camera system' But there will be a fund to use module with monitor to be reviewed soon. Might come handy. Of course - smartphones have better image processing - because of the more powerful hardware. But Viofo did really well with this one; Generally they are very good at what they do. As for home surveillance - working on that, but it will take some time. 👍😊

is it possible to have the camera recorded continuously without a loop function for a longer time and how large are the clips that make up a long recording? thx
@TechMishka4 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The idea is the clips to be shorter - in case an accident happens; If there's a small issue with a large file, it may be unreadable and you will lose a lot of valuable gootage.

I cant stream video from the front cam to my phone app....rear cam streams fine. I have to download the front cam video which is always around 3 - 3.5 GB

Does the Viofo still is the best 4K dashcam when it comes to quality? Or there's something better? Is there a four channel 4K dashcam set up?

There's a new device by BLueskysea that is a 3-channel camera. But the Viofo is better in my opinion.

Still the best 4K dash cam below $250. Nobody even comes close. Those crappy fake 4K dash cams on the market are only 2K if that. Not as discreet as a Blackvue 900s, but it’s a better dash camera when I compare the images. Blackvue is much easier to use and review the files. Pros and Cons for each.
