There is a car carrier in the harbor at Duluth. Not 100 yards off the Vista Queen mooring . *at least in 1980* I never got to dive it. There is too much shipping traffic to get permits easy. It takes a long time to settle water after large ships go out thru suspension bridge. I talked to divers who just did it. Visibility was terrible.

There were 2 aircraft carriers for training in Lake Michigan; the other one was USS Sable.

Two comments: 1- there ARE other locomotives in the Great Lakes. There are records of rail ferries and other ships carrying locomotives that went down, just not found yet. 2: Most of the planes lost from training accidents for the Navy would NOT be Dauntless dive bombers- more were trainers and Wildcats.
