You have absolutely no idea of the main reason why the Brahmos is considered the most dangerous Anti Ship missile. It's not the speed of Mach 3, it's not even the fact that it has enough kinetic energy to literally break a destroyer sized ship in half during tests, it's not even the fact that it has an accuracy of 2 meters during testing and as if all this was not enough, it's not even the fact that it has 3 redundant systems of every single electronic part inside it, which means that even if it's jammed or hit by an EMP or 2, it can still keep going as if nothing happened. No. The main reason that Brahmos is so respected and feared is because it has the ability to perform 3 dimensional S Maneuvers in the terminal phase at Mach 3 which makes CIWS systems useless and most Missile defence systems very very difficult to counter it. A missile that flies straight is easy to counter with current technology. But a missile that moves randomly in a Zig Zag manner is very difficult to stop. Especially when it moves at Mach 3.

Neptune is just a copy of the Harpoon and the Moskva was effectively a block ship. By all accounts, the scanning and tracking radars werren't even on, none of the VLS cannister tubes were open and the SA-8 arm launchers had no missiles on them. All of this means that the Russian CG had no emissions and no clue any missiles were incoming, essentially a block ship.

It has already been tested I believe off of underwater pontoons, the only limitation is that no current sub can carry the Brahmos as no current sub has vertical launch tubes built for cruise missiles, though maybe the Arihant class SSBN could maybe fire it but it is built for carrying nuclear ballistic missiles. Unlike other sub launched cruise missiles like the Harpoon or Klub, the Brahmos is wider than 533cm and so cannot fit into a standard torpedo tube of a submarine which is why the only sub launched missiles we have are the Klub used on the Sindhughosh/Kilo class sub, the Harpoon Block-2 used on our Shishumar/Hs209 class and the Exocet missile used off of our Kalvari/Scorpene class subs. Which is why the Indian Navy did not go ahead with more Scorpenes but rather opted for the P75I project which will have vertical launch tubes big enough to carry Brahmos and maybe even Nirbhay missile in the future.

Now india is a member and current brahmos missile has 450+ km range, also 800+ km missile is on the way. Another fact is , I think you forgot about some Chinese and Russian missiles. And don't forget about brahmos II (currently land attack varient is in developing but a naval version will soon follow the land version) ,But when it comes out it will be best anti ship missile like the brahmos I once where. Don't get me wrong, brahmos is still very good. But missile technology of other nations has just caught up with it. That's all.

Most ships want to limit emissions up to the point a war starts, but I would think the NSM isn't really any stealthier than a Harpoon or other existing sea skimmer if ships are emitting constantly and tracked by AWACS or helo radar.

We have mean ships, it's only reasonable that Russkies have some mean anti ship missiles in their repertoire. Thankfully the post Cold war honeymoon is over and the Pentagon realized we're gonna need something more advanced than the upgraded 1970s Harpoon ASMs. LRASM and NSM are great missiles but I expect even more in the next decade... By the way, calling the NSM the best ASM missile in the world is a bit of an overstretch. As far as guidance and warhead technology goes it's second to none, maybe only to LRASM. It's the stealthiest missile in the world and will be hard to detect by any ship's radar. But where NSM lacks is range and payload. It's a subsonic missile with a 100 mile range and a small warhead, around 200 pounds. That's great for attacking corvettes and even frigates, but if you want to hurt capital ships you're gonna need the LRASM's 1000 pound warhead or a hypersonic speed that kills with kinetic energy alone.. There is one more missile in concept development by the Royal and French navies, and it's called Perseus. This missile has an interesting concept with one main warhead and 2 smaller side effector warheads. They can be released just prior to an impact therefore creating 3 different points of impact on a ship, or can be used as a unitary warhead if you want maximum penetration in a single point. Interesting..

India is trying to integrate Hypersonic 5 Mach shaurya 1000km missile to be used for initial flight and for second stage Supersonic 3 Mach Brahmos 800 to 1500 km missile. This integration of Shaurya with Bramhos will give the missile a sub sonic speed of around 4 Mach combined together and a total kill zone of more than 2000 kms. This combined platform will be used for both land and sea base targets. Brahmos is a cruise missile which can fly as low as 5 meters above sea doing sea skimming against sea based ship targets as well as it can also do vertical dive down operations on the target both in sea and on land based targets without even giving the enemy enough time to react. These platform's will be like a nightmare for the enemies who are within the 2000 km strike range of this missile and no anti missile defense system in the world can bring this missile down once it is fired towards the adversaries. Just think of a scenario where more than 5000 such missile are fired towards the enemy land and sea based targets simultaneously. If everything goes as per the planning then the war will be won within 10 mts of launching Surya+Brahmos missile combined platform. This is the potential of this missile which no other platform in the world right now can deliver.
