What does it mean by vector?
@lighthouserock30145 жыл бұрын
Vector is basically a type of image that is made up of lines and shapes, rather than a raster image which is made up of lots of little dots (pixels). For animation it often means that you can control whole parts of the character at one, like instead of having to redraw the whole arm when it moves, you can just have the computer rotate it all at once
@Matthimeo8 жыл бұрын
It should be noted that even if you are a CG or stop motion animator, drawing skills are still incredibly useful, because you need to be able to plan what you animate first. And the best way to plan animation and search for poses is just to quickly draw the character

Yeah, but better need to be careful with some bad cartoons (e.g. TTG, Pickle and Peanut, etc.) These shows were lazily animated. But if you want to make your series great, create some plots for the episode, then add some complex personalities and traits for your character, balanced out the humor, etc. This will make your animation great and someday, your show will be popular as heck.

im currently studying animation and they teach us all these types, but i personally prefer traditional or 2d animation because i feel drawing is one of my stronger skills. However, my favourite form of animation is a mixture of traditional, 2d, and 3d witch actually, wasn't mentioned in this video. this form of animation is mostly used an Japanese films or some newer anime. in this form of animation, the characters are animated traditionally then translated to computers to be coloured and edited digitally. still backgrounds are almost always hand painted traditionally or digitally, and backgrounds that move or rotate are made in 3d. some moving objects, plants, and people moving in the background are also animated in 3d. then finally everything everything everything is composited together and special effects are added in.
@kitten2mail8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think he tried to explain it in a briefer way. So that there was an over all cover of each type, but I also believe he didn't cover a few things.. I always did see 2D animation as a more traditional form, the version of it where they use flash to create this look is just rising to popularity with some these days. I for one am not a big fan of flash. Understandable

I'm going to school for 3D animation, but we have learned the basics of traditional and 2D animation. The only thing we will not learn in my program which is one of my life goals to learn and create, is stop-motion. Whether it's with moldable clay or hard puppets, it creates an almost disjointed and eerie result
@kaedekramer10287 жыл бұрын
Occasionally, you will have certain types of animation combined. CGI used in Attack On Titan worked surprisingly well in a 2D environment. If anything, it worked to give the scenes a sense of unnerving action that totally worked for a show about giant, hideous creatures that eat humans and have completely unknown origins. Nice video! - Kade the Kontent Kop

I started with 3d animation, but lately I've been going more and more over to traditional. Take so much time making different characters in 3d, and I wanted to learn how to draw. Still not super good at drawing, but all the time saved by not having to model, texture and rig a character is worth the struggle with drawing. As I can just go straight to animating.
@Xyos2128 жыл бұрын
For 3d art and animation, there is artistic skill required for modeling the mesh, texturing/sculpting phase, and even for animation. People are too quick to dismiss 3d animation as "the computer does it all". That's far from the truth. The computer can aid in a lot of things, but you need solid artists behind it all for it to look good.

Maya is a really hard 3-D animation program. I took the basic Maya class in my college. But I wasn't allowed to be a Digital Animation major because I had already completed a degree in Visual arts and the college won't let you dual major or get a second degree. I find this very stupid because you need to know how to draw to create any type of animation and having a visual arts degree makes you so much better at digital animation.
@ayyteen8 жыл бұрын
+Jessie Fox Can you use "Maya" on your own computer? If so then that means you don't need to take the classes in college.
@jessiefox37398 жыл бұрын
Probably college makes Maya harder to learn than it really is because in order to grade students, they skip over the absolute basics and assign projects that are on an intermediate level. College instructors aren't allowed to give A grades to everybody. They have to give out Cs,Ds and Fs. Granted, I got a B+ in the Maya 1 class that I did take.

My favorite types of animation are 2D computer animation, stop motion, and CGI. I also like traditional animation, but I'm pretty picky and only like it done a certain way. I love 3D computer graphics, and I'm currently learning how to do computer generated imagery and animation. I believe not one type of animation is better than the other. They all have their pros and their cons. Animation takes talent to master, and there's really no easy ticket to creating a masterpiece. This is my opinion. Go ahead and feel free to disagree.

Do you think there will ever be another form of animation? My guess is that there will be 3d movies where you choose the view angle and can explore the world, sort of like a video game
@coolunknown78469 жыл бұрын
Some youtube videos already have that function. If youre on a pc just look on the starting page on the left where it says 360* videos:)

Traditional drawing is my favorite. I want to study 2d animation in university. Why? Because it includes drawing not like sculpting in 3D and I think I find it more artistic. Exp: over the garden wall, persapolis, the prophet, code geass.

If it's done well, it looks great, but I can't ignore the number of times that badly done vector has ended up looking cheap because it looked like one picture being warped around - in essence, that's what vector animation is, however, it takes some skill to make it not look like that, lol.

The reason I love mostly 3d animation is that you can get super high quality filled with detail scenes at solid 60+ fps without worrying. Also I love traditional animation, but when it's done with way more frames per second - at least 24. This creates very smooth and pleasing to look at animation, but is so time consuming I understand why it's not done usually
