I think even the stark defenders of TPM won't do so because of the Gungan Battle. It was a destraction used by the Naboo to take out the command chain. Though, I will admit, the Battle of Geonosis was better than any of the battles from Phantom Menace. TPM makes up for it with the Podracing Scene and Darth Maul

I like TPM its just that the final attack is really- bogged down with all those plots going on. only Three things need to happen but we have 4 view points, two for one of them. Firstly we need Maul+Jedi - great scene Secondly we need The battle of the plains? with the gungans and droids Third we need to shut down the droids - Either by capturing the leaders or by blowing up the command ship, either outcome should result in the same- if the control ship is gone the queen doesn't need to fire a gun to retake her palace, or the control ship and lil anakin don't need to blow up the control ship. I'd remove the assault or most of the scenes of the assault on the palace and put more into the gungan battle and the space battle and made anakin less of an idiot.. afterall he knew how to pod race i doubt he'd be so idiotic "spinnings a good trick"

@@abraham2172 Also Legends Empire took some of the old clone wars designs and simply improved on them. Like the LAAT became the IDT (Imperial Dropship Transport). Basically the exact same role, but smaller and armed with the better Imperial grade weaponry, rather than the droid specific Clone Wars era weaponry. Then we all know what happened to the Venator and how nearly all the Imperial Class Star Destroyers are superior.

I love how you call the DC-15 a “battle-rifle.” Coming from a firearms background, that’s exactly what this is. “Battle rifle” tends to refer to a rifle chambered in a full powered rifle cartridge, in U.S history it’s been 30-06 and 7.62 NATO or 308 Win. This system has a very distinct and unique idea compared to the “assault rifle” or something in an intermediate cartridge such as a 5.56 NATO, 7.62x39, etc. When I think of the DC-15, I immediately think of the M14 or the FAL. Good analogy, well done.

@@javiertorres1290 Because the Empire was about fear, not military effectiveness. The AT-TE was probably one of the best walkers ever created, but the AT-AT was terrifying due to its massive size. The thought was that the sight of an AT-AT would send all the enemies of the Empire running, and it usually did because it had incredibly heavy armor. Most squad sized anti-vehicle weapons did nothing, and there were very few weakspots. The rebels never really had a good answer to the AT-AT, even after all the wins.

In 2:49 for first time I realized that AT-TE do not use magnetic mechanism to climb vertical walls. It uses claws. I think, we all missed this detail.

IMHO instead of the All terrain recon transport [AT-RT] a speeder bike would have been more practical. The speed (and versatility) would have been a _order of magnitude faster,_ you can't use a AT-RT over water, gorges to far to jump, steep cliffs and so on. That opens up a lot of tactical possibilities, like just avoiding the head on charge to either bypass the enemy, or bypass and then hit them from the rear (or multiple directions at once). Thus a speeder bike could be used to strafe and flank a lot easier, and would also have a smooth ride instead of bouncing the operator around - which makes it far harder to fire on the move. A larger version of the GAR speeder bike (still the same size as the AT-RT, Speeder bikes are smaller) with the same indirect fire mortar could have been developed, which could lob shots from unexpected quarters in hit and run ambushes and raids.

Secondary point, if you are standard size being 5’11 185 pounds , you can wield a G3 just fine you also will get better handling of it over time and use , you should realize these soldiers weren’t exactly the picture of health they were trained well enough to lug around their kit , the United States also had fought the wars for everyone else at this time. Not to mention if you just lift weights and perform cardio vascular excersizes on a regular basis you will be much stronger and endurant than a soldier in the 80’s standards are even far more relaxed then they were then today

I have to say I've always thought it's rather weird to talk about victor for the clone wars, when whole event was from the beginning just extremely elaborate, galaxy wide scam, where other party had no intention on winning on the first place. CIS could not have won even if republic would've done nothing but sat on their thumbs, because whole separatist union was arranged by Palpatine to elevate himself as a wartime leader and then to the emperor and o'course getting rid of the meddling Jedi in the progress. So is it truly a victory if other party doesn't even intend to win? :D

Touching on the DC-15a, there's always been something that I've wondered. While the carbine is much better in close quarters, the rifle was much more accurate over range and had the power to take down most droids in a single shot. So why didn't they just bring both? The rifle could be equipped with a strap to carry on the back, and the carbine was small enough to have a hip holster, or simply bring one of the DC-17 pistols for a closer range option. The versatility would have been a great addition to the basic Clone Trooper.

I think the biggest problem with that is just weight, I mean the clones’ armor already weighed them down quite a bit, and more weapons would just continue to decrease their mobility. Later in the war most of their engagements were in closer quarters too, so there probably wasn’t as much of a need for long range weaponry.

Quick question: did Republic tech have the actual capability to put shields on their ground vehicles or ground attack/support ships? They may have had the technology as the small Naboo fighters had shields, but were they so expensive and required so much power that the vehicles in use would have required both shield generators and additional power generators on board that it made it realistically unfeasible for them to have them? Considering we're talking about a very large army and not a small planetary defense force from a wealthy planet like Naboo, maybe it wouldn't have been practical to have shields installed? Though why special command units or units with Jedi on board didn't have shields is beyond me - though of course the soon to be Emperor probably made sure they weren't that well protected more than as a cost cutting or safety issue.

I kinda hope we can build and manufacture a vehicle similar to the LAAT gunship; being able to ferry troops, provide CAS, and transport tanks and materials. With our current vertical takeoff technology, it isn't possible to transport tanks yet as most main battle tanks (62 tons) are too heavy.

I dunno about the ATTE. It's fine as far as it goes, but it gets pressed into roles it really isn't designed for. I mean, yes, it is a really cool design, and yes, having an infantry fighting vehicle that does more than just "battle-taxi" duty is definitely the way to go in modern warfare - but the ATTE ends up acting like a main battle tank as much as it does an IFV, and that's a role it just isn't really optimized for. It's too big, the driver's cockpit is too exposed, and its mass driver, while powerful, relies on an exposed gunner - not to mention the hideous complexity of running six four-jointed legs. When used as a tank, it's too easy to score mobility or weapon kills on the ATTE, which put it out of action just as much as blowing it to scrap. With the tech that went into building the ATTE, you could make them even more deadly on the battlefield by building a dedicated main battle tank (or MBT-equivalent) to work in conjunction with them. There's a reason modern militaries have different designs for MBTs and IVFs, after all. ...Other than the Israeli Merkava, anyway, but that monster is a lot more specialized than most people think, and takes a _LOT_ of training of both the infantry and tankers to make it useful.

I can tell you have no knowledge of real life weapons. The soldiers did NOT have problems wielding the G3 battle rifle because of it's size. They had trouble with it because they would fire it on FULL AUTO and the .308 caliber had has a reasonable hard recoil. So firing that rifle with that recoil on full auto had the soldiers having trouble staying on target. When used as a single fire rifle, NOBODY had trouble controlling it. Nobody had trouble with the FN/FAL and it is the same size as a G3. The FAL more commonly fired the 7.62x51 caliber, which is pretty much the same size as a .308 but NOT powerful. Just like .223 and 5.56 rounds are almost identical except in terms of power. One is slightly more powerful. So again, unless the soldier was a midget or very short with a short arm length, the G3's size was NOT the reason some had trouble controlling.

And yet, the DC15A was never used with a stock thus reducing the shooter's accuracy. Instead, we get scenes where the Clones act like a bunch of 5th graders playing Army. While the GAR had a lot of good hardware, it lacked two things that any modern combined arms force should have: a dedicated close air support craft that would stay along the FEBA (forward edge of battle area) and focus on supporting the ground forces, and artillery. What they had was woefully minimalistic and couldn't put enough "steel" on target to do any real good.

I'm sorry anything with legs or a walker are terrible design for a fighting vehicle. Legs are very vulnerable, hard to maintain, Slower than tracked/wheeled vehicles, and get stuck easy enough. No but tracked or wheeled are superior weapon platforms and better for all terrain than any walker is.

Note that the Russians are keeping their fancy tracked vehicles on the roads in Ukraine because they will break down or get stuck in the springtime mud. Both wheeled and tracked vehicles can't work for long in mud, nor can large numbers cross muddy ground without making it even worse for those behind them. Not that a walking vehicle would do any better in that kind of terrain. Thankfully the Russians can't just pick up their tanks like the Grand Republic's army can to move them around the battlefield.

@@krisgonynor689 Mud can be a right monster sometimes for any vehicle or man. Just look up throughout history how many times mud and rain has slowed an advance to a crawl or stopped it. WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam are full of examples. Even Ukraine if they can will try to stick to roads and not the muddy fields. No one wants to deal with mud if they can avoid it. Walkers are even worse as they have very few contact points with the earth where all the weight is focused upon and so will sink faster than even the tracked vehicle. And it is harder to pull a walker out the mud than a tank is. Imagine trying to replace a walker leg during battle, compared to putting a spare wheel on. Both would be hard tasks but the leg would very likely be a longer task and harder.

Alan I don’t know if you know this but there is no such thing as a legal invasion. Also the hammer and anvil is a flanking maneuver he didn’t just simply run into an enemy line with his companion cavalry he used long spears in his phalanxes to hold an infantry line and distract them in place while he flanked the weak side of the enemies line.
