My compression socks were bothering the heck outta me last night, so I didn't put any on after my shower. Woke up and went about my day. As I'm watching this, I'm putting on a pair because my shins starting to ache which only happens when I am not wearing the socks while walking around. 🤦🏼♀️

Lisa, this was awesome. I agree with all but one and you have such a lovely way of speaking without frightening a patient. You will be one of the clinicians who helps change care for the better. Thank you

The first thing you said is the most important however....getting someone to actually diagnose you is like finding the million dollar Easter egg. I felt something slightly different in my abdomen and randomly my leg would feel heavy. This happened sporadically for a couple of years. I had to take pictures of my leg when it was puffy because by the time I got into the doctor visit, it would be back down again. Long story short, it took over 5 years to get to a therapist and over $10,000 out of pocket. I live in a rather large town and there is only 1 certified lymphatic therapist. Crazy.

Also, it can be bad if you wear compression stockings that are too thick and too much compression. I wore Jobst Elvarex for a long time and they caused an ulcer on one foot. I had to go to a light weave Juzo Silver Soft and that helped a lot.

I told my doctor repeatedly and it took 6 years for it to be acknowledged.

This was a sudden onset with me as far as the swelling goes, the numbness with my knuckles of my toes started around two months ago. So this doesn’t go away?

Symptoms often improve with treatment! But they don’t always. I suggest finding a CLT to work with who can help you with your particular issues.

Where can I see the exercises for Lymphdema
@lymphsmart6 ай бұрын
HI! You can check out my 'exercise routine' playlist for some 10 minute (or less) routines!

What If you are already a high-level athlete when you suddenly develop lymphedema stage one? Can you still continue to work out in a way, that enables you to to maintain your competitive edge? (While, wearing compression, of course) I’m new to this and don’t have much guidance. It came on spontaneously.

ABSOLUTELY!! At the beginning (now) you will have to find the line between muscle memory (what you can do) and what your body allows you to do (without worsening your symptoms). You got this!! There will be trial and error, so make sure you have the right team supporting you.

Do you use compressions 24/7? Does same apply for lipedema?
@lymphsmart8 ай бұрын
Most people need compression 24/7. I suggest checking in with your personal medical team to see what is right for you.
