I feel that part of the reason that this video series is so good is due to the soundtracks for each episode. They are not overtly in your face or trying to sonically illustrate some action sequence through a barrage of sound. Instead, it is an ambient, emotion evoking pattern of textures; not getting in the way of the narrative but contributing to it from a deeper psychological level which brings a measure of dignity, honor and simple trust. The composite result is one of a very engaging story telling style that I, for one, can not seem to get enough of. Thumbs up Kevin MacLeod

Fuji apples are not "genetically modified" in sense we now use the term GMO, but were hybridized by selection for certain traits in the same way dog breeds were selected for, or the tame foxes the Russian scientist Belayev established. I am working through all of your videos now because Greg Lam (another great Canadian KZbinr with his channel "Life Where I'm From" about living in Japan) referenced your episode on the "Untouchables" of Japan, which was great, so I watched a couple more and got hooked. My only suggestion for your channel (so far) is to include the sources from which you were informed to make each episode, because "you can't trust everything on the internet." :-)
@jesusgonzalez67157 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: Many widely consumed apples, including "Golden Delicious" go back to some tree somebody just found standing around which has been repeatedly cloned since. Purposefully breeding apples for certain traits is a major pain in the lower backside.

Wait... did they really start the whole thing with seeds? I'd think they'd have brought over cuttings to start, as the high genetic variance of apples means you're likely as not to get something... less than appetizing.
@ctwofirst66356 жыл бұрын
I thought about that, too. But once you get some breeding stock, I think apples are fairly easy to improve.
@radioboys89866 жыл бұрын
Ctwo First, apples do not breed true, plant 100 Fuji apple seeds you will get 100 different types of apple trees 99.999 % of the time they will be spitters, so sour take a bite and spit it out, but they are good for hard cider
