The 50 Greatest Extreme Metal Albums

These are my favourite extreme metal albums.
As always a few things to clarify.
(1) Most of the times in metal
heavy = extreme, but for me this is not
always the case as I think that
it's the combination of lyrics, artwork
image etc that makes a band extreme.
(2) That's why I considered albums
that are mostly out of the genres of
Black Metal, Death Metal and Grindcore
(including all the subgenres and
combinations). There are a few other
choices as you will see.
(2) Because there are a lot of Thrash Metal
albums that were extreme for their era,
I couldn't totally ignore them so I included
some in my Honorable Mentions.
(3) Up to 3 albums per artist.
