The $500,000 R33 GTR - Built By Legends Skyline

The Built by Legends and Mines R33 GTR is about as perfect as these cars get. Starting with a donor car, the chassis is stripped back to metal and reinforced, sealed, straightened and restored. Following that, a built 2.8L Mines engine is dropped in, interior re-trimmed and every nut, bolt and component either replaced or restored, leaving you with the ultimate Skyline.

This build is on par with something like a Singer 911 in terms of finish, but isn't over the top in terms of design retaining that total factory look for what could be said to be an "OEM++" build at its finest. This will be an incredible daily driver. Hopefully this won't be hidden away in a garage forever when its delivered.

There's really no way to not be mesmerized with such detailed work. I'm particularly amazed by the exhaust system. Sound and high performance, without abandoning the consciousness of making a street legal product. The catalytic converter is there, I don't usually see people having that in mind when tuning a car.

The guys at BBL are true craftsmen. Their builds stay true to the originals but have everything in a restomod that anyone could dream of. I prefer the R32 build, but the R33 build is also spectacular. Will there be an R34 build?? I hope so. Keep up the great content Dino. Keep living the dream.

It’s actually very similar to my R33 GTR, I have the Tomei RBX 2,8 lt with V Cam System and the Nismo 6 speed Getrag manual gearbox, I also have the Nismo Carbon Fibre Rear Differential, the car has around 85 percent of the Nismo Catalog of parts fitted, and has 700 hp at 1,6 bar of boost, I love R33:s, the Mines car is gorgeous guys, take care and Drive safe.

Well it was honestly a not such great question on my part. We all know it's dependent on so many factors,, starting first with the base price of the car. In this case they started with a very clean example, so costs are what they are. And the build itself had many personal requests from the owner. Plus are let's not forget what Nismo charges for its resto/CRS packages? (look quick, it might go up with the start of the new month! lol)

Great video, I think Mine's is right up there as a place where some truly amazing cars have been produced over the years.If I ever had the money, I would dearly love to visit at some stage. Its kind of hard to get your head around the costs involved though. I'm not knocking BBL or Mine's, the amount of detail, investment in research and the time and skills needed to create cars like this will never be cheap. When I was younger, a good amount of JDM cars were relatively affordable and something you could see yourself owning one day. Now, to get into a lot of the iconic JDM cars, you literally need to be a millionaire, a real pity it has gone that way. Looking back now, we didn't know at the time, how good we had it 😉 Anyway, its still great to see Mine's going from strength to strength and the enthusiasm for cars like this only getting stronger.

There's perhaps no comparable builds other than ones from Nismo Omori Factory, this is the ultimate bespoke R33 GTR from BBL & Mine's hands down. There are comparable builds, at least in terms of craftsmanship and power. These guys have endless amounts of money to throw at a car, which doesn't change the fact that this car IS amazing; but it's like those guys from UAE getting their cars built to perfection. It's rad and it's with a huge disconnect as well.

The typical excuse you see for low HP from Japan motor builds is that 'we are chasing stability, not power', when the fact is that the difference isn't in other countries chasing HP over stability; but that Aus and Usa chase HP and stability equally, it's just that Japan doesn't share the same interest as us. But that's a convo for another time
