Thanks for sharing the downside of riding. We must always remain cognizant of the dangers to a fun sport. Good reminder to check your safety equipment (first aid kit, coms, beacon).

Love my EXC-F 500! Have noticed over the years though of crashing on dirt bikes that now it feels like i ‘crunch’ when I hit the ground. Seems like it used to feel like more of a ‘bounce’. 54 yo now. Glad ur not too badly injured.

Consider yourself lucky Keith , I had harder but similar get off on my KTM300exc .... 2 broken ribs , punctured lung , fractured scapular and 2 spinal fractures ( now I`ve got 5 fused vertebrae in my mid thoracic and 2 fused vertebrae in my neck and more screws and rods than a Bunnings hardware outlet. Airlifted to the Alfred Hospital and spent a week in critical care .....Back on the bike in 3 months but it took about 6 months to get my speed back.

Gidday Keith, I can certainly relate, particularly when it comes to riding out with an injury. Over the years, I have upgraded my protective gear which has certainly helped with limiting the impact of some of my mishaps. It's great to see that your helmet served it's purpose (albeit with the expence of replacing it), but I'm Interested to know what you were wearing in the way of body armour and whether what you were (or weren't) wearing contributed to your injury. That is, did you hurt your shoulder because you don't think the shoulder pads were up to spec, or were you wearing top of the line gear but the impact was still sufficient to cause injury? Keep up the great work with your videos and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Mate, bugger about the crash, but glad to hear it is nothing too serious!!!! Would love to join you when you have round two!!! Have loved your channel, so much so that I finally bit the bullet and brought a FE501!!! Love my DR650, but in my view, light is right… Live in Stratford north of Sale, if you are ever coming through let me know. Would love to catch up. Get well soon. Cheers Scott

Unfortunately falls like these are part of the life of a dirt rider. Had a similar off in mid 2020, wallaby came from the right, took out my front wheel and down I went onto my right shoulder. Fractured humerus but the worst injury was the 6 broken bones in my left hand, which I believe was caused by my hand whacking the bark buster as I was wrenched off the bike. Like you, I rode out but didn’t front at the hospital for 48 hrs. And like you, my helmet had large gouges on the right side and was scrapped. You will be right. The protective gear we wear makes a huge difference.

I feel your pain as I watch this vid Keith .I have the enduro version of the RMZ 450 and have done the same thing .the older you get the more it can knock you around when you hit the deck .at least you were not seriously hurt .when I ride now I have way more safe gear than I think I need but at least I'm trying to minimise any issues that may arise.and yes concentration needs to be 100 percent at all times .

OUCH!!!! We don't bounce like we used to do we mate. After a couple of falls in the last couple of years the last being a broken tib/fib I worked out that my skills aren't what they used to be. As you get older your reactions slow greatly. I've tried to compensate by only doing the tracks on my smaller adventure bikes and only when unladen. I don't skimp on my gear anymore either. Getting old sucks but three cheers to all of us who are too pig headed to give up!!!!!!

Hi Keith, just a short question .did they the aftermarket fuel tank companies not have a tank for your 500 and is that why you chose the fuel bags hung over the front of your bike for the trip to the desert.

From what I can see, the front wheel got caught in the rut and tucked. Saving required body to rebalance the bike, some handlebar action to stop the fall and steer out of the rut - something you have probably done like 100,00 times before. Basic cause? concentrating more on commentary than riding. 🥴 The joys of vlogging 🙄
