I have the Reckless 10L on my 2020 ktm 500 and I love it, but I was looking at getting either the Reckless 10 or 40 for my 2024. Is the Reckless 40 to big for day rides or is the 40 only necessary for multi-day trips?

I do not have a motorbike but a casual human-powered mountain bike. Have had issues with the X2 recording some 10 or 15 seconds when riding - just wondering if it is indeed the vibration that shuts the thing down. I also have the first of the series, ONE X, and do not have any problems with it in any vibration condition. I just hope they would have stated that vibration issue in the web shop in the first place… I wonder if I can get my X2 changed at warranty asi I do not have much use for a camera that shuts down when there’s vibration…

Hey Keith … thanks for the helpful videos. Just wanted to point out that the torque setting of 10Nm in this video may not be correct. I only found out after I had oil weeping from the sprocket area so I re-checked & found out that it should actually be 60Nm.

Hi Keith - whats your experience with Garmin Inreach Mini (I have v1) and how it displays on Flytrace? I have been troubleshooting an issue (no updates for over 1 year - now working thankfully - not sure what I did exactly to fix it). On the map display - my position is always a YELLOW flag and if I don't have custom messages displayed - then the text on the detail window of the 'pilot' on the Flytrace map view is "LANDED (Ok)". When I change to have custom messages displayed, I still get YELLOW flag but the text on the detail window of the 'pilot' on the Flytrace map view is what I had configured for the Garmin Inreach Mini 'Preset Messages' (1,2 and 3). Is this normal? Please let me know ... thanks 🙏👍 I believe with spot devices, you get a red ballon icon with the pilot / rider initial inside the icon and a 'ON TRACK' message (associated with button 1) and Yellow Flag and Blue Flag for the other 2 spot buttons. spot.flytrace.com/Tracker/help/commonhelp.aspx

Nice review, bought the intercom and regretted it. Has a lot of features, none of them work. Here are the list of issues: 1) intercom connection breaks over 60km/h between devices even though my passenger is right behind me😂 2) phone call quality is really bad, like no noise cancelation is applied. Peaple can't really hear me well. My 2017 vnetphone v6 had this feature and people had no idea i was riding a motorcycle. 3) when connected to phone and to other intercom, if you receive a call, the other intercom still hears what you are talking?!?😂 4) Music sharing, you can share music to other intercom, but you cannot talk to each other😢 5) when using intercom and playing fm radio at the same time, radio is playing on a single speaker😅 6) listening to music and talking to your passinger via intercom does not really work in real life (auto volume control on music does not exist) On the plus side, sound, battery and controls are good. Still, I will revert back to the trusty old v6. I really wanted to like this device, but it was a major let down 🥲

Australian outback or Baja Mexico, the same advice applies. However, we each carry a couple of Combat Applications Tourniquets (C-A-T) and know how to use them along with abdominal pads. Controlling a major bleed is one of the few very time-critical issues that must be managed immediately.

Couple questions; What octane fuel did you commonly use? Fuel generally had ethanol or not? Did you use fuel additives? Any negatives to vortex ecu? Would you do Cush drive again or not worth the $? Any mods you still want to do? Any mods you wish you had NOT done? In searching for the ideal KTM 500, could you comment on model years to Look for/avoid? What, if any, satellite communication would you recommend? Keep up the good work; You are an inspiration!
@keithjob
@keithjob 25 күн бұрын
Great questions! 98 whenever I can, but that is basically unavailable in the outback. Ethanol, never. Never used a fuel additive. Vortex...no negs that I know of. Cush drive... yes I would buy again (bling wheels ;-) Mods to do.. probably wished I'd tried rubber mounted bars earlier, but happy with the foam grips now. Mods to not bother.. the headlight is great, but a very expensive luxury. Probably wouldn't do that again. Models.. from what I know the 17-23 range are solid bikes. Not sure on the subframe construction/mounting on the 24. Sat comms... you're down to Iridium for phones as Thuraya went under. And Garmin inReach for two way messaging. I don't think SPOT4 works in Australia? That's what it seems like anyway. Cheers!

Nice to see another Nerd on the job, I have check lists for everything, no point in forgetting anything important. Interested to see a comprehensive video on every thing you would to the bike and gear before going.. for example - im in the process of loctiting, torque checking and replacing all critical bolts with safety wired bolts if possible. And other tips like carrying multiple smaller water bladders so if one leaks youre not screwed.

Personally, my single biggest enlightenment I've ever had was in regards to alcohol. Fuck alcohol. I grew up with mountains everywhere, do stuff many ordinary people would call crazy and irresponsible in summer and winter. Everyone who is a remotely trustworthy person knows that you do not drink alcohol in the mountains. The same is true for any situation where you need to be focused, need to know your body, your limits and have sharp senses to be able to constantly adapt to anything coming your way. Alcohol is poison, it kills you. It kills your rational, it kills your next day, it kills your fitness. And in the wrong place, it sooner or later kills you. I am not talking the odd beer with friends at sunset ever so often, that one beer is delicious. Just keep it at that one beer. Or better, keep it clean and don't even start a potentially catastrophic evening by opening your first can of beer. Ride safe!
