It's made to be heavy so the recoil isnt so savage, they are made to be shot.

And, you’re incorrect to say it’s not designed to be used. It most definitely is, and it’s very capable of doing its job and saving your bacon.

Hmmm, .577 Nitro, when a .22 Hornet just wont cut it anymore... ^~^ Pesky gophers it the backyard and all that. They charge when wounded don't you know... >~

I know a dozen hunters including myself that hunt with a full charge 577. Ideal weight is 13 pounds and can be carried all day if you're not a patsy. Most are clueless when it comes to these rifles.
@keithhagler502
@keithhagler502 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. My .450 no.2 is right at 11 pounds. when you go to 13 it's not a huge difference. I love the .577, but if I were to have the means to order new, I'd probably go for a .600 in pre-war style. I have to admit though, I want a little .360 jones-underlever hammer gun for everything North America, perhaps more than anything else they could make. I missed out on an Alex Henry. One day....one day.

For regular use and rough handling in the bush we don't need engraved and gold inlayed DB rifles only thing it should strong and accurate weigh less because one has to carry for miles I love DB rifles

For everyday use in the wild the engraving and other add ons are just a waste of money,,give me a gun or rifle like this I'd fear nicking or damaging it

This guy really doesn't know what the hell he's talking about when it comes to rifles of this kind! The gun is absolutely designed to be used for hunting the fact is the person who commissioned this rifle most likely used it to hunt elephant and then decide to sell it or passed away and his family is selling it! The kind of people that can afford to buy a rifle of this expense ($200,000+?) don't worry about scratching their guns!
@dannypaterson888
@dannypaterson888 2 жыл бұрын
It's probably 2x more powerful than an elephant gun needs to be. Its more about build quality, status and fun. If anyone was serious about hunting huge game, they'd probably leave this gun at home and take something more practical.
@johnkertzman3223

@@pbp6741 Actually I was being serious. That .577 slug would not expand in something like a deer. A 12 gauge lead slug makes a mess of things as will a .257 Weatherby. Not that a .577 Nitro would ever be my first choice for deer but I imagine it would work just fine if you "needed" one. oO

@@hillbillyscholar8126 In addition, the .577's low velocity, something like 1,800 fps, would not leave the same amount of bloodshot inedible meat as a smaller but much faster round.

It appears that you can't efficiently operate the rifle. U didn't demonstrate the safety locks, didn't fire two rounds, the ejectors etc. Just repeatedly saying, 'nice, nice again, beautiful, how nice etc can't display all the features of a db rifle. Moreover, whether mutual alignment of the barrels can be done with an Allen key also was not demonstrated. Saying only, nice, beautiful etc,and pulling the fingers over the barrels don't show all the features of a rifle.

A superb rifle! But I have to ask why would someone with enough taste to order a Purdey double rifle have it made with that truly ugly and impractical fat forend? Your hand is supposed to be around the barrels when firing, not holding on to a log like thing.

And it would be a burden for your man to carry. The undercutting of the acanthus leaves is absolutely critical as is the extension of the top tang. Front trigger must be hinged and trigger checkering might be wise. Is a large caliber double rifle stocked to the fences inherently weaker than one which isn't?

It's very pretty, but a CZ .505 Gibbs or .500 Jeffrey bolt rifle will do whatever that beast can do, for a lot less cash. A trip to a gunsmith to have the slightly agricultural CZ action made butter smooth and it's all gravy, saving your bacon for much less bread. Oh gawd, now I'm hungry 😋
