It’s amazing how clearly I remember this. Feel very fortunate to have grown up in a time when this was exciting!

I must have only rode this once when I was young but it always stayed with me and I used to stare at the photos of it in the Chessington brochure for hours. I love the fact it was a unique story.

I went on 5th Dimension many times with my dad and brothers. I loved it I was only 8 or 9 yerars old. Remember the big plug and pencils at the start and the bashing of the button to kill the big pineapple head at the end. Good memories!

Lots of good memories attracted to this ride, not many people seem to remember it but the button mashing and blasting the monster always stuck in my head, it may have been my first dark ride too, thanks for this great bit of insight into what is a pretty niche memory for many.

I loved this ride! I still remember it to this day. I take my son to Chessington now and its not the same... Its just a shoot it game now :( the "theatre" of it is lost.

Thanks, well I considered it a success as it gave me happy childhood memories. Wish I could take my kids on it now. I wonder if any of the props were saved?

What an amazing video! Unfortunately I never got to ride The 5th Dimension.

Outstanding work. I loved the honesty of the creatives behind the ride, and although I did ride this and had fond memories, I never realised it had such a short lifespan. For me this ride was spectacular and seeing it again sends shivers down my spine. Maybe it was Chessington's Concorde moment. Nevertheless, I thought Terror Tomb was a worthy replacement (Tomb Blaster less so).

i really enjoyed that, great job, thank you. i went to chessington 91 thru 97 as a teen so i think i had 3 opportunities to ride the 5th dimension but for some reason i never did, it may have been down to not noticing it as the doc says it werent very clear what it were. i did actually go on terror tomb in about 94/95 though :)

Exactly, the theme would suit the now and with a bit more tech and experience could be quite amazing. I can see why they changed it though. At least Terror Tomb was a worthy replacement. I still remember queing for 5th dimension

Absolutely loved the 5th Dimension. I lived locally back then and had the zoo season ticket so I was there probably 3 or 4 times a month. The ride certainly had issues when it first opened with traction issues and synch issues but that was all part of the fun being led out of the ride on foot as the ride stalled ....

It was a success ran for 6 years, I remember the time I went every year it was packed-One year went on it 6 times and was packed every time

During a bout of insomnia many years ago I found and watched series of documentaries about former attractions of British theme parks. I was never able to find them again. This seems to be one of them, I think.

That might have been when these were on vimeo in 2015! The Haunted House one I remade and the Bubble Works and Terror Tomb videos are also being remade , but not ready just yet

@@EuroThemeParkArchive hmm… 2015 seems too early and I’m pretty sure I watched it on KZbin… However I’m sure this is the video, and thought I was going crazy as couldn’t find then again. You’re doing absolutely amazing work and can’t wait to see them when they’re are done, you truly were ahead of you time.

Would have loved to riden this ride. it's like a mix of classic dr who and hitchhiker's. Do you think you'll uphold the original 1987 POV as an individual video?

if you go back to when it was Chessington Zoo it had a walk-through haunted house and a ghost train! the type you would of found at a traveling fair!
