It is no secret that losing weight can be quite a struggle for many. This constant battle to drop weight and stick to a diet plan serve only to keep you frustrated and lacking confidence in your ability to stick to something. This doesn’t have to be the case. If you understand the real reasons why you are unable to stay consistent, then you will likely unlock your ability to get this right once and for all.
This starts with not making yourself accountable. I like to think about this on a much deeper level than just saying you are going to do something and then not doing it. If only you are accountable to yourself without considering others, you will likely not hold this pursuit as dear as you could. Instead, think about what your not sticking to the plan could mean for those that find you to be an important part of their life. Will being unhealthy have an impact on your ability to provide for your family for as long as they are going to need you? Quite possibly so. Will failing to care about your own health set the wrong example for your kids who look up to you and everything you do? Likely so. Start realizing that others are watching and all of a sudden your own ability to value what it is you are chasing might skyrocket.
Next is failing to find the eating style that fits your nutritional struggles at the moment. For example, if your main issue is that you mindlessly graze all day and eat at random times and adopt an intermittent fasting approach to fix this, you are likely setting yourself up for failure. Not because intermittent fasting is incapable of producing weight loss but rather in your specific case it is directly opposite of the mannerisms that are most embedded in your approach to eating right now. Instead, you would want to do IF if your issues revolved more on frequent large portion eating.
Continuing on with diet and nutrition, what you drink is just as important as what solid foods you put in your mouth when attempting to lose weight. Failing to drink enough water early in the day is something that I’ve covered before on this channel but is no less important here. Seventy five percent of us walk around in a chronically dehydrated state. The secret to combatting dehydration is to never let yourself get there in the first place. Staying ahead starts with drinking 20-30 ounce of water first thing in the morning.
Weight training must be a cornerstone of any attempt to lose weight and look good. Whether you are in clothes or out of them, what you see in the mirror is going to be your most honest and immediate feedback on how much you have been sticking to your plan of losing weight. No lean muscle gains will be had from simply walking on the treadmill or calling your workout complete after 45 minutes on a stairclimber. Better start weight training if you want to be impressed and satisfied with what you see looking back at you.
Healthy fats are a great thing for a healthy diet, except when it comes to losing weight, and then they must be eaten in moderation. Due to the caloric density of fats vs carbohydrates and proteins, you simply cannot go hog wild eating these if you want to be successful in your attempt to lose weight. This is a common mistake made by people who will argue the health benefits of fats. I’m not arguing with you one bit. I’m just saying, confusing healthy foods for foods that will make you skinny is a common mistake and one that you need to be aware of if losing weight is at the top of your goal list.
Finally, you have to some way make this attempt look different from the last time you attempted to lose weight. The second you slip up trying to lose weight the same exact way that you tried to last time, your mind will be flooded with memories of why you were unable to stay committed and you will likely throw in the towel even faster this time. Change the gym you go to, the time you train or even add in some supplements.
If you are looking for a workout plan that tells you exactly what to do each day in the gym as well as what to eat to get ripped and stay ripped year round, head to athleanx.com and get one of our ATHLEAN-X Training Systems. Stop leaving your training to guesswork and chance and start training like an athlete and you will be amazed at what you will be able to accomplish this time.

@@zichengwang7550 Yes, however, it also depends on your activity level, so plan accordingly. Remember, your body will only resort to muscle breakdown when you completely degrade glycogen, fat then muscle, in that order. As long as you are eating properly for your lifestyle, and continue to burn the carbs, then fat (ketosis) and life weights, you have no worries about the body using muscle as the last resort of energy. I am not Jeff, however, I hope this helps you.

I started to train for the first time in my life last January at age 64. I was not overweight but not in shape either. The most important thing I did right off the bat was to have personal training once a week and go in on my own the other 6 days. I knew I would not want to keep the 7 days indefinitely but felt that in order to maximize my effort at least in the first few months and to see any results, I needed to do it that way. I added two Mobility classes a week in order to make sure I can train with no pain and it really made a difference. Not having any muscle pain allowed me to train on a daily basis and not miss days due to muscle strain. After 4 months I added a circuit class which is pretty intense but has added the cardio aspect and filled up my weak area of lack of stamina. This in turn caused me to add cardio routines during the week either at home or at the fitness center. Having a good trainer who like Jeff is also a physical therapist and knows what each routine will do to each body part is crucial. Knowing how to properly use a machine or do perform an exercise, which ones to avoid and why is key to maintaining a regimen that makes me progress in a steady way. As for nutrition, I have had to constantly adjust my eating routine to coincide with my training so as not to lack energy because of not enough or have issues if I ate too close to my session. The proper food wasn’t an issue as I have been vegan for 4 years and have not eaten junk food or bad fats. Jeff has great tips and demos and is very much in line with my trainer so the videos complement each other. Thanks

Thanks Jeff, and everyone else that helps make these awesome videos. Been struggling with depression for years and about 6 months ago I found this channel and it was one of the best things to happen to me at the time. Around 50 or so pounds dropped later, and I can say I am probably in better shape then when I played football in high school. This video just gave me some more motivation, since you confirmed that I have been making some smart decisions in the last few months. In my opinion the first tip is the most important for people to focus on and will help with all the others. Its impossible to really change and push yourself if you don't have some real meaning/motivation. Thanks again and hope all your success, and everyone else who watches these videos carries on into the new year.

There are shortcuts actually believe it or not. You will get better results following a well written program, for example a full body system that only has you 3 days a week in the gym instead of a 5 day brosplit with shitty periodization and exercise selection. When it comes to your diet, for skinny guys instead of cooking 6 meals per day you can get calories quickly and easy in liquid form. Blending oats, milk, peanut butter, banana and egg whites / whey 80 for a natural mass gainer. It will take 2 minutes to make it and 20 seconds to drink it. Once I found a great healthy recipe for a natural mass gainer bulking and gaining muscle became so easy, alot easier than forcing down chicken and rice in your throat every damn day. Instead of spending 30 minutes in the kitchen and forcing down food down your throat. You can have a diet plan like this: Breakfast, shake, lunch, shake, dinner instead of eating 5 full meals per day on a plate. So yes, the truth is there are better ways, but hard work is very important.

I'm sure he had something to be with it and his plans are very good, but even plans Jeff despise usually work in losing much weight when you're so heavy, because people who pick up any plan consistently are focused on a goal and no matter what is the plan they will achieve it easily. That's why nonsense stuff like drinking tea burns fat exist, it might help, but it's only 2% of the story, the rest was the dedication you put along with drinking tea. What I mean to say is that 90% of the credit goes to yourself, good job! 👏

I am on week 3. My big change was using my home airbike as my routine foundation. Have also put in 3x a week gym resistance. Third major difference is my food choices. I am feeling stronger and healthier. I am 44yrs old, married, 3rd shift worker. So odds are against me. I am losing 3 lbs a week and looking at it as a 6 month program. Not an overnight loss but a healthier lifestyle. Some diet changes that are key: smaller portions, watch type of fats (reduce oils use) and drink more water instead of sugar loaded drinks. It’s very hard to curb sugar addiction. Also have to get food for family but my kid is skinny and can eat fast foods so I buy it for him but I have to resist for myself lol. The key is focused resolve and accountability. Also, get back up if you trip up. Don’t snowball mistakes into complete relapse. Find a friend for external encouragement and potential competition. I started May 11, 2018. I weighed 265lbs. It’s May 25 and I weigh 256 lbs. I’m really enjoying my Airbike (fan bike). So far so good.

I love that advice, I dont think I've heard anyone else say, choose a diet that works for you because if you dont your not going to commit. Everywhere says do this diet this is the best but I think Jeff hits it on the mark here, choose the diet that works with what you have. These diet experts expects everyone to switch from there right hand to there left hand metaphorically speaking but Jeff is saying use your right hand just improve your technique

You are really great! Every word that comes out of your mouth is so true. The biggest problem for the "average Joe/Jane" is not the knowledge how to do it, but LACK OF MOTIVATION. Most folks are just not prepared to work hard and follow a rigid training and diet schedule.

how much longer will it be before every other trainer and fitness coach on youtube finally realizes that it's time to throw in the towel? jeff is so far ahead of everyone else that it is literally impossible for them to even come close to catching up with him. while everybody else is busy trying to come up with the next gimmick that gets you ripped without any hard work, but your wallet is the thing that ends up losing weight, jeff just continues to cut through the bullshit with science, motivation, and honesty with life changing results. all hail the king.

Yep, I started my normal training 9 months ago and discovered papa Jeff 3 months ago. The progress I'm making since then is surreal, cutting away all the bullshit and increasing overall lifestyle quality. The kind of gains that make you actually feel more and more healthy each day. All of that just from his amazingly informative videos and home training, so Athlean is the only program I've ever considered doing since he really cares about people and basically already saved me from a horrible posture that would've gotten really nasty the next few years, so he's also the only one I recommend to other people. Although it's only a question of time until i get really hooked and maybe need to go to the gym again after all these years. So yeah, all hail the king. Edit: Also all hail Jesse we need to show him love too :D

I'm doing mostly the things he says to do. I can't wait to see my life and body change. I've always been obsessed with weight training since I was a young girl. I actually wanted to be a bodybuilder. My dad however did not like that choice and said no man would want to lady that has a crap load of muscles. It made me feel a little sad but now that I'm older I still love weight training. I get a little cardio in at the gym but the whole time I'm just waiting to gets all the weights and resistance training !!! 😍😍😍
