There's the 1. Football guy white belt that does it to improve his rugby tackling 2. The pretty boy blue belt with the hot gf that comes to see him roll in tournaments. He can often be seen wearing sunglasses in his gi at the mall or riding his R6 Yamaha 3. There's the social media hero purple belt that dreams of being a master one day ;) 4. The brown belt that thinks he's a black belt cause he teaches the kids but never goes to tournaments. 5. There's the untouchable black belt instructor that never rolls with other black belts cause he'll get beaten and sticks to the white and blues. 6. There's the old guy blackbelt with so many injuries he just does it to stay fit these days and everyone is scared to roll with him cause you might hurt him, I'll add one more due to popular demand 7. Beware the old black belt who's built like a bear, totally unfit and has no technique but if he gets you in a neck crank with his old man strength he will crack your vertebraes without a second thought lol

If you honestly go into BJJ with very little ego (you will always think you're better than you are in the beginning) and you have a good bjj gym then bjj will completely change your life for the better. Not everyone will become a monster in bjj and some don't have thr attributes to pick up on every technique but man bjj can teach you to be humble, how to overcome obstacles, build your cardio, and make you some lifelong friends. Our gyms motto is teaching good people great jiu-jitsu 👍.

@aquillassongbird33513 жыл бұрын
My only concern i have is ego. I only rolled a couple times, but I do have a style of wrestling background. Ego i think is the most serious issue in training facilities. Instead of working , alot of people try to show off by hurting people which discourages people to either go to another school or quit altogether. I remember training for a something and I went to a school here in Vegas so I could try to use Jiu-jitsu techniques. There was a guy I rolled with and he made it a point to RNC me and of course I tapped. Needless to say that RNC gassed him out while I was good to go cardio wise and wasn't even winded. I personally don't want to go to multiple schools when I start training in Jiu-jitsu. I want my Jiu-jitsu to have a " home " if that makes sense. As stated, I think ego is the most serious issue when training in disciplines especially with mma or Jiu-jitsu. Peace ✌☮

He was being sarcastic. Being the best in your school is good but it’s not prodigy stuff. More valid evidence is the number of tournaments you’ve done, which ones are notable, and how you placed. This is because gyms can vary in size and talent pool. When you say something like being one of the best in your school, it means absolutely nothing.
@destructionc75963 жыл бұрын
@@RonniiV I do roll against people of different sizes and I also train at another place near my college and at my college where we have our own BJJ club that’s competition based. Where I train mainly, it’s not competition based, it’s more self defense based, we focus on self defense more than like big sport moves or giving up a position just for a chance to tap a person. We always try to keep self defense in our heads because out of nowhere my instructor will say “Okay guys grab your gloves, it’s street sparring today”. Sometimes I’m matched with a person that’s my weight, some smaller, some severely bigger that’s 245-270. But it helps me narrow down and keep in my brain what moves I can use in this situation because every time I see someone use sport stuff I give them some not really light but fair enough blow that it doesn’t hurt a lot to remind them “Hey you can’t do this your not protected as much when you attempt this move or do this move.”

You forgot THAT DUDE or girl that always, always talks during the roll, ouf. You forgot that student that teches to each and everyone of us, yet he is white belt. Roy Harris alos spoke of that student that knws every youtube BJJ tech, but yet cant apply sh%$t when he rolls. He reminds me of those noob poker players who often shoot for all out game plan after only 2 minutes of plays.

As a 160 lb dude - I hate the 250+ lb mountains the most. One mistake on my part and they go full on pancake pressure mode.

Question!!! I just started BJJ 10 weeks ago and I'm in PT for Strained Hip Flexors. I am passionate about BJJ but devastated about the injury. Any advice?

Please keep making the videos Jedi- I am almost a year into training and you've influenced me more than you could possibly know, I really appreciate the work you do here

I dont know if I count as a mountain. I dont think I have seen the big boy type in any of your type videos. I'm 300 plus pounds and my game plan is to get on top and smash. I'm a fresh white belt and love your content.

Love your videos! Video suggestions: my gym doesnt really teach escapes but wants us to focus on our guard. Can you make videos on preventing top mount and side controls?

I think I'm the fitness guy mixed with the mountain. I'm 6'5" weigh 240 and I bike 15 miles a day. Thinking about getting into jujitsu. Live in Chesapeake, VA. Any suggestions?

I’m definitely the fitness guy lol. I’ve only been training three months. I can keep a pretty high pace for a 7 minute round, even if I’m getting smashed the whole time
