I think u forgot nose flutes. The Philippines has nose flutes
@narnodel2 Жыл бұрын
Damn ! First comment and you are right ! I have a small nose flute, it is just a short duct flute which uses the mouth as a resonator. But I just researched the Philippines nose flutes, they are totally different flutes ! They seem to be close to the oblique flutes, but blown with the nose. I will have to make a new video !!! Thanks for the info !

@@narnodel2 Thank you! Nose flutes from southeast asia always interested me.

@@bussyslayer6389 And I think they would have been the 7th level of difficulty on this video.

@@bussyslayer6389 I just made my first nose flute sound ! After watching some other videos, I realised that there was a small hole on the side of the flute in which they blow through the nose. So I tried it on my PVC "transverse" flute used for the video, and I was able to get 3 harmonics with my nose (I closed my right nostril). So maybe the southeast asian nose flutes are in fact another kind of transverse flutes... Thank you for letting my know the 7th way to create a flute sound !

Notched flutes: Quena (Peru and Bolivia), Xiao (china), Shakuhachi (Japón).
@Loonrise-hh4jv7 ай бұрын
Exactly. Those are the most known notched flute, but for know I only have the xiao in that category.

Play us some traditional xiao, hulusi, shakuhachi, dizi music, you have a feeling for the tradicional that is hard to find here on youtube. I would like to see you playing the chromatic lyre some day, hopefully.

in which group would ocarina be placed?
@narnodel2 Жыл бұрын
It would be in the fipple flute group, like a recorder. The sound emission is the same, the difference is that the notes vary by opening holes in a closed volume, while it is an open tube in the recorder !

I want a Ney and a Duduk so bad but can't afford them 😭
@narnodel2 Жыл бұрын
You can build a ney with a pvc plastic pipe for electric wires (the exact same plastic tubes I have used for this video). All the infos are on persianney.com. I made one, just for try and honestly, the sound is almost the same ! And you can have a ney for less than 1$.

@@narnodel2 thank you, i'll try doing that

I don’t know if sugar canes are the best canes for making instruments, but you can try ! 40mm on girth it seems a little small, the best for building neys is about 16-18mm in diameter (50mm girth). The duduk is not especially hard to build, except for the reed which is very complex. I think I could build a duduk body, but I will never be able to make a nice sounding reed without a teacher. Try making a ney first, it is much easier !
