💜Hi THANK YOU Soo much. I'm 63yrs and I've tried to keep in some shape most my life. When I was in my 20ys, I took an aerobics class. Attended for some months and saw good progress . THEN, the instructor introduced an excessive called ,, "THE SCISSORS" Maybe you can add that form of , (in case you already have because you are All so smart and helpful😘) to the Nooo's. This Scissors exercise involves laying flat on the back and using arms and legs simultaneously . So starting, let's say, Left arm straight above your head and your Right leg straight down. Then,, with a pendulum motion , you begin a constant motion use the limbs in a non-stop motion for maybe 20-25 count. The next day, I couldn't cross my legs stand for too long. Etc. . Had to go to a chiropractor twice to resolve the pain. Now at 63, I'm having problems again. (Not doing that exercise. (never again 😖) ( I hope you like to read cause there's no other way I can explain some stuff except being kinda wordy 😁). I know I could find help with your channel. Omg I have sciatic and no wonder after 2 days raking leaves and then bending over to pick them up. The next morning standing at the sink, all of a sudden I felt the total weakness and numbness wash over down my glutes and even into my quads. It was terrible. I just quickly sat down for a few minutes.

I knew it! That is, despite thinking those moves were a good idea because they're commonly recommended as core strengtheners, or, plain common, like bending and weeding my garden, they kill me every time and I'm on the couch for a day after. With bad knees, older non-squatters are very likely to engage in these moves. Boy, we need alternatives. Thank you for this post.

What are some other core workouts i can do while having sciatica? Been following you guys for 3 years now. And I've noticed a lot of core workouts are "pain makers" and should be avoided. I'm just curious on ways i can do core strengthening and not irritate my sciatica

Personally I have found deadlifting moderate weight to almost get rid of my sciatica and anther back pain I had that would creep up on me and make me feel like I was going to collapse have more or less gone away!

I have a concern and a question. I hope you guys are doing well. You guys have been my physical therapist for at least four years now when I had my first knee replacement. I had my right knee replaced in November and purchased the Bob and Brad Lightfoot massager in February. It broke last night. It’s outside of the warranty- 30 days. It’s an awesome machine but is there anything you can do? It cost me about $100 and money is tight now days. Just asking. Thanks again for being the best physical therapist on the Internet in my opinion.

I have been operated in my spine for having 2 herniated (L4 and L5) , ithas been over 3 years now and i feel a lot better, just get some discomfort when sitting or lay down for a long time...since it does not hurt to do these movements, should i still avoid them?

I have successfully treated sciatica for years with muscle work on the piriformis muscle. Myofascial Release, stretching, PNF, wirh home exercises for the client.

Physio gave me most of these as things they said I should be doing along with wall sits and it was horrible trying to explain how it did not feel right as I just could not engage muscles needed and was painful and fatiguing.

I’ve had 4 back surgery, including fusions and have been pain free. Hallelujah. But I got on a machine at the gym where you kneel on this sliding thing and pull yourself forward…now I have sciatica. Arghhhh

For me, lumbar flexion is fine with my sciatica. Its lumbar extension that hurts.

Yoga instructors will tell you to keep a flat back. Use a strap if you need to.
