This was awesome guys !! Too often, GBTQ men hookup as a way to combat loneliness ! Glad you both spoke about the endless GBTQ quest to find the “trophy” guy ! He will have flaws even if his appearance and finances are “ideal” ! Date ppl who don’t look like you also and learn new things !

This was actually what I needed to hear... I've been on the dating scene for two years now, and I've already almost given up. People have given me over generalized advice, but you two gave practical advice. I like how, instead of saying, "You have to communicate," you said, "Communicate your emotions as soon as possible." :)

I’m 36 and thank god every day I met my husband early. We’ve been together 17 years, since we were 18 years old, and I have no envy for anyone at our age having to be in…or worse, suddenly re-enter…the dating world. I would have absolutely no idea what to do! The whole Grindr thing didn’t take off until a few years after we got together, so I would be completely lost! Not that my opinion matters much, but I will say I didn’t meet my husband until I WASNT looking for someone and I had just gotten comfortable with the idea of being single. Life is weird that way!

Thank you for this straight forward advice. Gay guys need to accept the reality that sex is not the default. What is scary is this mindset bleeds to their 30s and beyond! Then they wonder why they are alone in their 40s and 50s. Relationships are a compromise and hard work!
@loveislove48794 жыл бұрын
Yep im about to be 38. I just had testicular cancer and it is hard to deal with that change and feeling unlovable and incomplete. It gets harder as you get older and more set in your ways i think too.

These tips are practical and down to earth and most importantly, keep at the center of love between two people. Especially holding off on sex, that's such a big red flag when it comes to the beggining stages of dating someone. Make sure that person is in it to care about your heart and you for theirs ❤️❤️

You guys are spot on. I wish I'd had your maturity when I was your age. But back then, gay men supposedly weren't capable of having meaningful relationships. (Oops, outed myself 😳) I'd add one more axiom which falls in line with everything you guys said: Don't go looking for love because you want to be in love." Hugs guys! 😘

It really was different back then - especially when everything wasn't so open. LGBTQ+ peoples are definitely capable of love and deserve it too!

I personally think when you focus on loving yourself to the point where you realize you no longer need a relationship to make you happy, the right one will be just around the corner. It's a bit of a paradox.
@DanielBorson3 жыл бұрын
When I found myself single again at the age of 46, I deconstructed all the things I wanted from a boyfriend: friend, companion, activity partner, emotional support, sexual partner, etc. I realized that I didn't need to get all these things from the same person. I lead a very full life, and while I would love to have someone special to share my wonderful life, I know I don't need someone to be fulfilled and happy. Of course, since this video first posted, the pandemic has thrown a wrench into everything, and for the past year and a half, I've never been more lonely and touch-deprived in my life. And desperation is not a great place from which to find a partner.

This video is brilliant and you guys are very wise. I share a lot of your opinions, fx about honesty when dating. It is so important. Like you said - we all have defaults and it is easiest to reveal those as soon as possible. But I have been single for almost 15 years and sometimes I lose hope. However, in future, when I feel that it's just hopeless, then I will watch this video again and again and again ...... it is full of hope, optimism, wisdom and common sense. 😀👍🏳️🌈❤️ Thanks for a great video! 😃

I've noticed most aren't mature enough to have a successful relationship. Hooking up is the easy alternative. Remember that we didn't have a "normal " life. No first kiss, dates in high school etc and most importantly emotional validation or a social structure that str8 enjoyed. We aren't emotionally mature yet.
@augustsage72652 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this helpful video. There is a guy that I have a crush on who I have been hanging out with for the past 6 months. Initially, we hooked up once the very first time we met but we haven’t since. But I didn’t initially get involved with him to date, but the feelings developed over time. We have held each other, shared passionate kisses, we go out dancing sometimes. Plus I have hung out with his friends multiple times… I am just hoping that first night hook up didn’t change the dynamic in a negative way :/
