Greed hoards, envy covets, gluttony consumes, lust indulges, sloth is apathetic, wrath obsesses, and pride knows what he is.
@dogfight20189 ай бұрын
I'd say pride doesn't know what he is. He focuses on himself and, therefore, obsesses, refusing to see how he fits into the outer, bigger picture. The cure for pride is humility, which is not an excessive disdain for oneself, but a recognition of who you truly are, and a response that is "down to earth" rather than seeing yourself as being "untouchably higher" or "hopelessly lower" than others.
@johnaeryns53649 ай бұрын
@dogfight2018 I say pride knows what he is because to be unaware of your capabilities and limitations while thinking you're better than anyone else is arrogance. Pride is not assumed, it is earned. Through accomplishments, and skills. That's the difference between pride and arrogance. When you're proud, you've earned the right to know you're better than others. You've proven it time and again. Humility comes also from awareness of the self. It's knowing you're better, but still acknowledging your weaknesses. They're not two sides of a coin, or even opposite one and other. Humility is the natural evolution of pride.
@dogfight20189 ай бұрын
@@johnaeryns5364 I think we're using different words, but describing the same ideas. I agree with ur statement in the way you use the word "pride". I was speaking of pride as a sin, what you'd call arrogance.
@johnaeryns53649 ай бұрын
@dogfight2018 well, arrogance is false pride. It's bring proud of achievement that you personally didn't earn. Arrogance often times lead to loss, which will force a person to examine themselves. Then improve to achieve victory. Then they'll become proud. But now they understand their limits, so they'll gain humility as well.

The exploration of the seven deadly sins unveils a profound tapestry of human nature. Greed, a relentless hunger for wealth, overshadows meaningful connections. Wrath unleashes violence, leaving scars on personal and societal landscapes. Sloth traps individuals in a cycle of neglect, sowing seeds for other sins. Envy begets a toxic environment of rivalry, festering bitterness, while lust blurs the boundaries between passion and obsession. Gluttony's insatiable appetite extends beyond the physical realm, leaving others deprived. Pride blinds us to flaws, hindering self-improvement. Rooted in religious ideology, these tales resonate with glimpses of these sins in daily life, guiding us toward introspection and growth in the face of our innate desires.

I had in my life a perfect example for a persons who could represent perfectly pride. He was almost never remorseful, he didn't believed he did something wrong to someone usually when that happened he claimed that person to be unfair, a wimp or a bad person all together and because of this he had a strong victim mentality and thought that he is the person who suffers the most from the unfairness of others. It gets interesting from here... Because of all of these, he was envious and greedy, he envied everyone that succeeded in something even tho it was through merit and he denigrated that person as much as he could. Tho, he was a really smart person and very skillful guy, but because of some of his decisions that were driven by this pride he always shot himself in the foot. He wasn't willing to accept to be bossed around and had problems with money, his parents and other persons because of this, he wasn't willing to have someone superior over him and in the context of friend groups he had this need to dominate all of us so he can have this feeling of control and leadership that "he deserved". In the end, I am telling you this to give you an example of how pride can ruin your life and the reason why I am telling you in the past tense is because I am no longer friends with this guy. He did some of the most down bad things to us and never regretted what he did to us because he didn't saw those bad things as... bad things. As this video explains, pride is the ultimate sin that not only affects others but it can affect even yourself.

Some of these to apply irl as a personality is not totally a deadly itself if knew how to use correctly. Heres my Take 1.) Having a bit of Greed can fuel your ambition and goals to achieve further successfully in life. However too much like you might involve ruining a persons life because of Greed is a deadly sin. 2.)Wrath is a way of expressing much anger and by then, it will give you relief afterwards. However, using Wrath as violence in order to harm a person is a sin. 3.) Having Pride is a way of showing confidence and proper pride in your work which also boost self esteem. However, Too much of me me me makes you a sociopathic Narcissist by only caring about yourself and not love ones. 4.) Lust can be used to good use too like you desired your faithful partner much every about him/her which also keeps the sparks alive forever. However being lusty like doing it by means of Infidelity, Harassment and offering your body to everyone is a massive sin. 5. Sloth, sometimes we do need to be at a point or days of having a pleasant relaxation after all the hard works we been through. Its indeed okay not to get productive 24 hours. However, Too much Laziness could never fulfill your goals and thats the time tou need to get up 6. Gluttony, my context here is about food so heres my take... As long as youre feasting togetger with your love ones friends and other close people around you a feast of gatherting together with giving you lavishness and delicious delicacies to eat every on the table is what makes the moment every memorable. And in every feast, A Bond is formed even stronger. However, if you just eat eat and never even offer your food to everyone and keep it yourself despite youre now full thats where it goes deadly. 7. Envy, sure we are human and even those we want to be gives us a bit of Envy however theres a point that the person is also inspiring to be with like him/her. Yet, if in a way that it affects the persons life thats you xrossed rhe line. Overall, Too Much of this apply in use is still deadly but it can be greatly to use for good too

Indulging eating alot will be a sin for you. However there is instances that especially feasting together and indulging the meals prepared is harmoniously not a sin. Greed? It logically makes no sense. Jesus, who is the greatest source of morality to ever grace the earth, said even feeling angry towards someone means that you have murdered them in your heart. And no offense, but I trust him more than you. So I don't say what I said to be rude. I say it because I truly believe this mentality will hurt people. And it actively does.

Dont you even enjoy indulging alot of foods during feasting with love ones (which gluttony falls here according to context). We might even show forms of Extreme Anger by being hurt (Wrath) and thats a good thing too. And even Greed is a fuel of our ambitions in life, Not necessarily stepping into someones life but challenging yourself. You will never understand my point of view... but as you grew older, you might realize it just more than the literal 7 "deadly" sins.

Alot of times the feeling of jealousy was so intense that I wish someone to die and take their identity as a whole. Many things become a race for me. Sometimes, when the feeling of jealousy was too much to handle, I just give up and take a break When I’m in a better mental state, I’ll confess it to the person I’m jealous to about it and apologize for my actions for indirectly harming them

Our human insticts can be a big part of this sin but it is not to have entirely all the blame as we are all capable of self control but pride plays a big part as well. The human race mostly kills each other over this sin every time its because our pride thinks that we have the right to take life due to horrible circumstances. I have a big problem with envy because I am very sympathetic and understanding until it comes to someone who hurt me where if they have something good or are hanging out with my loved ones and friends I get very jealous and manipulative. Idk why it just happens 😭😭😭

envy is my strongest sin it doesnt hurt anyone but it hurts me so damn much Im happy for people if they succeed but i end up hating myself more the people succeed however if people fail i feel bad for them and im not happy at all that they fail i never want to put people down for because everyone is more talented and better me

all sin is equal. there is no worse or better sin. once you commit one sin, you committed them all. once you broke one law, you are guilty of breaking them all.

The seven deadly sins is missing the sins of Dishonesty (especially Lies) and Selfishness. Selfishness is as bad as Pride/Arrogance/Hubris, Selfishness and Arrogance are the two most deadly sins. The description of Sloth was not correct. Sloth is often a sign of depression, so being negative towards Sloth is like kicking someone when they are down. Impatience/Haste is a deadly sin too.
@ClearSora-s1i6 ай бұрын
The seven deadly sins gives rise to the other sin.Like the sin of dishonest may arise from pride or envy so we can say that the seven deadly sins are the mother of all sins.
@iainpattison903Ай бұрын
