That includes no power naps or quick snoozes, the most i've been awake was around 50+ hours 2 days at most and by the third day my body was giving out and i was starting to get some audio and visual impairment i think by the end of it i just collapsed in my bed and dozed of for an entire day

It’s heavily unhealthy to go more than 60 hours without sleep, there’s a reason why people were given ‘stimulants’ to stay awake. Reminds me of the Russian Sleep Experiment to a degree.

@heroinabuser2022 9 ай бұрын
@@kamrynsikes i've experienced sleeplessness of 4 days and i can say it has bothered me ever since how your mind can play that kind of tricks on you. It was back in 2016, i was heavily addicted to csgo and i spent most of my free time playing it. One time i stayed 4 days in a row playing it. No powernaps, just the power of energy drinks, coffee and occasional smoke breaks. Days 1 and 2 were like you would expect from a sleep deprived person, foggy thinking, slow reactions, sweating. Day 3 brought hallucinations to the mix, started seeing things at the corner of my eye, those seemed real at the time so i freaked out a bit. Day 4 on the other hand gave me cold sweat and made me feel the hallucinations. I could've swore something else was in that empty apartment with me. I remember feeling a hand pushed against my back and jumping towards my monitor. It made me question my sanity, but i shrugged it off as sleep deprivation. I was too powerless to do anything but just sit at my computer. During the afternoon the sleepyness hit me and i went to bed, had horrible nightmares but still managed to sleep for around 20 straight. One of the worst experiences i've had.

Yeah. Unfortunately, I go through this often. I have been up for more days than (almost) anyone would believe. Under observation, I have been documented to be awake for over 5 days and nights. I went years getting only around 1.5 hours in a 24-hour period. It has severely messed up my health. They used to tell me it wasn't dangerous. But, with chronicity and severity, they now tell me how incredibly dangerous it is. I suspect aging played a role in inluncing their stance. I will never know with certainty. Of course, I KNOW they didn'ttruly believe me until it was witnessed repeatedly under close supervision. Sleep studies, medications... I won't try the 2 meds out there.That they think might help since my insurance won't pay for them under any circumstances. My heart goes out to my fellow insomniacs.

Hey, tips from someone who stays awake way too much for too long of periods... 1. Eat and Drink, regularly. Healthier foods perferably but junk will work. Just do not over eat to a lethargy. 2. Get up and move. Walk, stretch, lift, etc. 3. Lights, look at lights, have them on. 4. Talk, keep talking or listening to something but not soothing. 5. Do not do routines that help you sleep (ie. If you wash your face or hange clothes before bed.) 6. No comfortable clothes. 7. The sleepiness comes in waves and that's the hardest part, once out of that tired rut then you're good for awhile even if you want to sleep.

I once experienced 68 and a half hours without sleep. I had a badly infected sebaceous cyst on the back of my head, that made it agonizing to rest my head anywhere, keeping me awake. Towards the end I started experiencing auditory and visual hallucinations. I still remember the little girl who stood behind me whispering to me in my right ear. I went to the ER 3 times trying to get something done and all they did was treat me like a drug seeker. When I showed up to work half delirious, they got me an appointment the next morning with the medical director's office, who took care of it immediately. A quick incision and drainage and a dressing that I had to do for myself for a week, and I was off to dreamland and no more hallucinations. So needless to say, this story struck me to my core, well done. 😮😮😮😮

Yeah, he really needed a better reason for the dad to leave the house... Maybe something like "That was when we noticed the fire spreading in the woods near our home. The spread wasn't violent, but it was clearly heading towards our home." If a fire was spreading nearby then it would make sense that the dad would go outside either to stop the fire or getting water in case it got too close to the home so they could keep it at bay.

Hallucinations and complete detachment of reality is what happens, nothing like seeing shapes in the trees and walking while brains are completly shutdown and focused only on getting leg next to other. This wasn't bad, but needed to be over a longer time period. 72 hours isn't long enough for this many people to give up and fall asleep, especially not with whatever they were given to assist them in staying awake. Or the story needed to put more emphasis on the thing inside them trying to lure them to sleep. Either would work to explain why people fell asleep so quickly. I do like that the people who fall asleep become a danger to everyone around them though. Really raises the stakes that even one person falling asleep can make a mess of what would otherwise be fairly simple for most people to accomplish.

I though that the infection coming out only during REM sleep might be a plot hole. But thinking about it it might be more that they just didnt know too much about it. This might explaine the guards making the persom in the car go to sleep. The guard would have thought a quick 10 min nap was okay because its not REM sleep but any kind of sleep makes the infection get out. Would like to hear some other opinions.

I think that or as time went on the infection mutated to be ANY sleep. The one thing I like to think for the 72 not being quite enough time to go insane plot hole is that the boosters they were giving everyone either contributed to feeling more sleepy or that the entire street was put under a sleepy curse. Making them all prone to falling more.

As someone who suffers from severe insomnia, not sleeping for 72 hours is a sinch as that happens once everyone other few weeks for me, sucks but I haven't found a sleep aide that actually works and doesn't induce some type of habit forming

Needing a prescribed and controlled medication to function because of a natural deficit isn't the same as a heroin addiction. Believe me, as someone who had half the adults I knew telling me ADHD meds were horrible and I was making a mistake, the meds helped me more than those people ever did. Talk to your doctor.

@@chaos.faerie Eh I was found the term " habit forming " in regards to medication as always a bad sign and unfortunately most sleep aides are habit forming. I was on Ambien for a long time, back when it was still in it's experimental phase and let me tell ya, that stuff sucks, I was hallucinating so bad because my body was fighting it, tried Lunesta and oh boy, that stuff was even worse lol. Don't even get me started on Melatonin, that stuff doesn't work. I use to smoke weed as a way to put me to sleep then developed Arrhythmia and that put a stop to that because it would make my heart speed up and that's a no bueno.

Thank you CreepsMcPasta for the awesome pasta. I definitely loved this one, and it is kinda similar to being tweaked out on methamphetamines and going 9 to 15 days without sleep. By that point you're too far gone to recognize your own street anymore and it's definitely a terrifying experience of yourself alone. You may or may not still be able to drive a car without crashing, but you'll be lost and won't recognize where you are. This story is so relatable to that experience that it's not funny. Very good work from the author, and an excellent narration. Thank you.🖤🖤🖤🖤

Story is written by someone who has never done amphetamines in their life. Im not saying that's what the boosters were, but I'm saying they wouldve been way better then that. If it's the military handing them out, they could've even handed them methamphetamine tablets. Just, wow, pretty much no short term side effects like in the story. Plenty of stories of people staying awake for a month straight on them, so, 3 days is nothing.

Around the 30 hour mark I got a sort of "second wind" were I stopped feeling tired until the 40 hour mark were the micro sleeps came back. A small second wind around 45 hours then fell asleep at the 50 hour mark. No hallucinations or crazy stuff happened. Was just irritable and kinda spacey.

72 hours sounds absolutely doable. I'm not a big sleeper in the first place. I've always been that way. I only go to bed now because the entire house is asleep. So i have to take a sleep aide just to get started. Still wake up 3 times at night and do it all again. It's only a few days, for goodness sake. Can't believe some of these folks couldn't go more than a day and a half.
