I considered this car being my "exit car" about 10 years ago. Back then, my neighbour had a stunning Arnage T24 Mulliner. I had a Range Rover which I bought new in 2007. Compared to the Arnage, it was...not near as good as the Bentley. That was the time I took more and more notice of the Brooklands. Titan grey with Newmarket tan leather and burr walnut veneer - an absolute dream. In 2016 I had the chance to buy a green Brooklands with 100k miles for a fair price. The car looked perfect, but the test drive was sobering - it's just way too big when you live in a city. You need a mansion in Surrey or Buckinghamshire to own one of these. It's not made for parking lots as the rear will always stick out. I still love the Brooklands and always will, but I'm happy with its younger sibling. But never say never, maybe the day might come and I'll need to save one of these beautiful dinosaurs... :-)

The ultimate incarnation of a traditional Bentley but with enough modern upgrades to make it genuinely reliable. I looked at one recently with a full service history. 2008 with 14 main agent stamps and all bills. Other than routine maintenance, only one fault needed attention in 12 years. A new wiper blade rubber, cost about £30!!

This is the last of the traditional big Bentley coupes like the Continental from the early ‘90s to about 2002 (Continental T, Continental R, Continental Le Mans, Continental Sedanca Coupe). Now with the Mulsanne gone there are really no old fashioned big Bentley models available. I consider the Bentley Brooklands to be a 2 door sedan sort of like a Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe only much more special and rare. I wonder if they will ever bring back the big old fashioned Bentley models like the Mulsanne, the Brooklands, and the Azure in the future.

Reminds me of the difference between the likes of the F40/McClaren F1 and the 'failure' that was the XJ220. Both the former were stripped down, bare bones racecars but the Jag was fully, fully loaded with EVERYTHING! Yet they classed it as a footnote due to hitting 217 rather than its namesake 220! In true style aswell! Only British cars use this no compromise approach! Bravo!

@@BibtheBoulder Still loving my Arnage. I don’t think I’ll ever be swayed to accept the Green Label cars, though if you own and enjoy them that is fantastic. The Mulsanne is a brilliant car and is becoming quite affordable. I will likely add one in the not too distant future. Visually and proportionally the Arnage is so perfect. While I prefer the size and presence of the Mulsanne it’s “face” isn’t quite as resolved or stately as the Arnage imho. Cheers!

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage Fair comment Tim. I had my Red label first and had the misfortune to suffer head gasket failure, gearbox failure, and water pump failure. All in 12 months. I sold it as I lost any confidence in it, but after 2 years of very happy Jag ownership I found the allure of another Arnage deafening. After an awful lot of research I realised the 4.4 BMW version was (much to my dismay) the most reliable, and it did not let me down once during my ownership of it. Ironically the Mulsanne has the Rolls 'L' series engine in it, and it was this that ultimately put me off buying one, instead opting for a Rolls Royce Ghost.

A very good review. This was more about the value for money one gets in a true luxurious car than just speed and performance, which I am unable to use on our roads and motorways. Even if I could use the speed and performance, I would not have the ability to drive a fast car properly unless I was driving fast every day.
