It's funny a lot of devout Christians aren't square at all. One of my best pal is a meth smoking punk guy who makes offensive jokes all the time and he's great. He's also a devout Catholic, I'm an Atheist myself but he adds me to all of his Catholic discussion groups and most of them can hang with atheists with no problem. The most uptight Christians tend to be Protestant, Evangelical in particular.

As a young Christian, I just hardcore resented being seen as being "too pure" to my peers as a child. Like, at church camp, one of the girls who went to church with me and knew my parents got mad at this one chick who was telling me how she got a tattoo while "hungover". I didn't know what that met right, anyway I asked what it was but she got interpreted by my church mate who said "woah, woah woah, what are you doing, she is way too innocent to be hearing this. Her parents wouldn't like this....." And I was thinking like, being hungover sounds like something horrible and wrong with all that crap she was saying, man, now I have to find out what it is, why does she get to know and I don't? ...I asked my other church mates what it was and they told me. I was very disappointed and felt like an idiot just because I didn't know that feeling like crap after a night of drinking had an actual name. I felt even more frustrated that someone would think I was way too innocent to know what getting drunk was and what it led to. Like I was amish and didn't watch movies or TV. I think that started a fire where I didn't necessarily start trying to fit in and be cool but started a campaign in discovering things better left undiscovered by me. Now at 29 I wish I could be that innocent person again....I always tell kids now to hang on to their innocence as long as they can and that curiosity killed the cat.
