I like the idea of adding a friend to each quarter... definitely appreciated her popping in to shop at a place you wouldn't normally go into.

In just a few minutes, I finally understand how Paris is laid out. I did not understand why some neighborhoods or areas were quarters, nor why some neighborhoods changed their names so frequently in different articles who would state that the layout was unchanged since the 17th, 18th or19th century depending on the article. I didn't understand why the Latin Quarter was also the 6th and also called St. Germaine Dr Pres as well as another name I cannot recall. Simply looking at the list of quarters laid out by arrondissement told me that the names were the different quarters, that the conflicting information came from writers who also did not understand that there is more than quarter per arrondissement and also that most authors in the New York Times didn't really know the city any better than I. They were assigning the more famous names to the arrondisement. Okay! I've got it! Thank you!! I doubt that I will memorize the map but I don't want to carry a map around. I think that I will explore a quarter each day and that will also give me time to enjoy each individual quarter. Which is the whole point.

I am loving this! A nice slow stroll, and popping into shops. I know it probably isn't possible for each quarter, but it would be fun to have you go into at least one shop or restaurant/coffee shop/bakery per quarter. You get to try something new and maybe give us a recommendation (if you don't already have one for that neighborhood). And I loved the little history tidbits! I'm definitely here for that!

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, the best one ever, slow, relaxing, details of Architecture, fashion, stores. great choice of topics, since we cannot do that ourselves - you are our eyes and legs. I am happy that you had a company - could be just a friend or not, but at least somebody to share with. I love to travel but not everybody in my family so sometime I venture alone, take pictures and talk about what I saw with them , but it is not the same as being with them even in the common situation. = Can't wait for more.

Great start to what looks to be a wonderful way to explore Paris, the 80 in 8. My wife and I have been to Paris twice.
