Welcome to another episode of The Eight Nine Garage. Hey everyone, in this video, we'll learn how to upgrade your Fox Body Mustang to a 3G alternator. If you're running a lot of accessories or an aftermarket stereo, this upgrade is a must. So let's get started.
First, you need to purchase a 3G alternator. You can find them at your local auto parts store, or you can order them online - SEE LINK BELOW. Once you have the alternator, you'll need to remove the old one. Start by disconnecting the battery, remove the serpentine belt, and disconnect the electrical connections and mounting bolts for the old alternator. The bracket must be modified to accommodate the larger size, and you'll see how in this video.
Next, you'll need to create the wiring harness to fit the new 3G alternator. The wiring harness needs to be upgraded because the original wiring wasn't designed for the additional amps that the 3G alternator produces. I will show you how I build a 3G harness in this video.
Finally, you need to test the alternator's output. Start the car and turn on all the accessories. Use a multimeter to check the voltage at the battery. The voltage should be around 13.5 to 14.5 volts. If it's not, then you need to troubleshoot the issue.
In conclusion, upgrading your Fox Body Mustang to a 3G alternator is relatively easy and can improve the performance of your car. It is a BBB INDUSTRIES 7771P57, but I got it as a closeout - and no core charge. If I was buying one now, I'd get the brand new one from Amazon (like 100 dollar option in the link below). I only got that BBB reman because it was so cheap.

@@89G ok cool ill look next time im there ..just got some nice American muscle chrome and black 18inch rims off a 2000 gt and some nice black 2000 gt convert front black seats for my 87GT . ive started a box of wires that work on a fox from the ranger trucks, new edge cars, contours, contentonals, explorers ,mountaineers, ect while i can get them at the junk yard in 5 yrs parts of any kind will be hard to find and parts from the special mustang companies COST are so much now for 1 connector is $10- $40 or in the yard a box of them $5-$8 for 20 to 30 ends ...

@AwakeDude911 great plan. I have a lot of parts I've gained by the same plan. If I would have had my big set with my today, I would have pulled some rear calipers off a 2003 today. I think they'll be a nice thing to have around... especially the bracketry.

@@89G i like them brakes but im hearing the rear 97 Taurus 43mm calipers are much better .after by reman ones seize up ill go with the taurus rears
