Great introduction. Appreciate this as I would wish to visit one day when the door is opened for international tourist.

Thanks. This is still one of my best videos. There's so much history in Beijing and glad to see others are also interested. Hopefully 2023 would be the year international travelers would get the chance to explore China again!

Thanks Henry! Not a lot of people enjoy history but honestly researching for this video was incredibly eye-opening. Taught me a lot about Beijing's past.

The Old City Walls should be Rebuilt and surrounded by a wide Greenbelt. To dived the Historic City from the Urban Sprawl. Also rebuild in more traditional architecture in the City (especially traditional Chinese style Midrises)

They've built a greenbelt around where the old city wall used to stand, but it's to offer residents some respite without leaving Beijing. Some ruins of the wall still exist , especially on the southern part. But the sad fact is that it's gone for a multitude of reasons. The quarters surrounding the Forbidden City (the heart of the old city) still have an old charm to them, are well kept and some sites are protected because of their cultural significance. You can see it them in my cycling video, if you want.

5:34 no actually. The city in Yuan was a bit north. 北土城,西土城was its border. Gates along line 10 安贞门,健德门 belongs to Yuan Dynasty. Great video. Also you can take bus 44 which goes the same route with line 2, so you don’t have to walk down into subway just for 1 stop.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know about bus 44, but now I do. Thanks!!

They demolished centuries old gates for a highway and a subway that could have been rerouted. Unbelievable, man, I just don't get it.
