It was my 40th Birthday and I decided to treat myself to a special flight. Flying always makes me happy and there’s no better way to celebrate than flying on an Emirates A380 in First Class.
I started my journey at Dubai Airport and met my friend Gerome Gardiner (airlinerart.net/) who presented me 2 special Emirate’s paintings as my birthday gift. I brought them on-board later to show the crew and have them signed. As I am registered for Emirates Biometric Path, I no longer need to show my passport and boarding pass to enter the lounge or to board the flight. It was that easy.
The Emirates Business Class lounge has been re-opened with all the latest food and beverage offerings. There is a dedicated First Class area within the Business Class lounge, with a table dining service and a champagne bar. The timeless spa and shoe shine is also open now.
On my Emirates A380 flight to Cairo, all the usual services in First Class have returned to normal levels. This includes table dining service, First Class shower and spa and A380 on-board lounge.
At the end of my flight, I felt extremely privileged to celebrate my birthday on-board. It has been a difficult year for everyone in aviation and especially for the A380 aircraft. COVID has made us really appreciate things and taught us not to take things for granted. I believe aviation will reach another peak when the challenge is over.

Are you talking about the EasyPASS automated passport checks? Those are everywhere and just rely on the data on your passport and the photo. They don't save much information, except that you passed or were denied by the system. The ones Emirates use are way beyond that and quite honestly really creepy.

I have been on a380 once from Dubai to Mumbai. Got seat 84 and experienced severe turbulence but still was a comfortable journey.overall it was worth it. Good job Emirates
