Destructible Environments, Throwable/ Wieldable objects like debris and cars, grabbing and throwing things and enemies, collateral/ innocent civilians to save/protect, physics-based interactions with enemies and the environment that encourage creativity (bowling down enemies with a boulder, sweeping their legs with a traffic light, sending them flying/ getting sent flying yourself by enemies), simple combo system to mix up the combat (light attacks and heavy attacks, aerials, dodging), simple rpg progression (new combos/ moves/ faster movement etc.), challenging enemies with different difficulty options, a temporary slow down time ability to help keep up with the speed of everything, a large open world map with procedurally generated towns and cities (that is unlikely but would be cool, like grabbing an enemy and flying them to Antarctica and leaving them there), space, underwater

I can imagine maybe the online functionality is an optional coop thing where you can summon another player from their playthrough to assist on your campaign mission, basically being like Gotham Knights but way less of a requirement for Cooperative play, plus with that teaser it looks like you can play as Eve I think her name is and the way they fight in the trailer feels like it could be built around Coop for better or for worse, either way I am curious to see how this game turns out, cause this could be the closest we'll get to a "Good" Superman game if done right.

It sounds like you never played or heard of any games besides the Day Before, which is definitely rough. But fortunately for you that's not how game development works and there are thousands of great games at all prices. The Day Before was an actual scam, not a real game from a real company. They also did not crowdfund at all and people got refunds. Every other game that was ever created and published has received funding from somewhere. It is impossible to create a game without money. It's especially impossible to release AAA games without money.

Their numbers are still very impressive and they will be able to scale up content in the future thanks to the game's unexpected success.
