The owner of the shop I'm a mechanic at happens to have a Saab 96 in fair condition. He probably doesn't want much for it iether. It's complete, I've had the v4 running," actually runs very well" 4 speed column shift, clear MD title and even has the factory keys still. It's not completely rusted out iether and all the glass is good.

Love old cars, fell in love with a 72 Cadi Eldorado , restoring it to fairly good condition a few years back. It was a car of my generation, one I could still work on... Used it to run from hurricane Katrina, later brought it to Texas and finally sold it... May sound a little strange, but I still dream of driving it from time to time... For us older folks without much future to think about, old cars and photographs fill many of our thoughts......... Anyway, I really enjoyed the adventure you've taken us on... Also spent three years on an Army Nike Site, located in North Kingstown, RI, late 50's, came away sounding a lot like you.. Your New England accent is a pleasure to listen to... Keep up the good work... and thanks for sharing. Ray

Reminds when I was a kid living in Bath, ME. There was a closed down Chrysler dealership with a 1965 Imperial left in the showroom. Makes you wonder what is the story behind the abandoned car.

Now being 70 years old living in Oregon but born and raised in Concord, NH I noticed the white Mustang had the license plate 3448. My dad had the license plate 3449 for over 50 years. He got the plate in 1949 when I was born on April 9, trying to get 4949, but it was taken. 3449 was as closest he could get to 4949. I still have several 3449 plates dating back to 1954, when they moved into their new house.

I'm from Fresno California. Anyway, about 20 miles south of Fresno is the town of Selma California. Back in 1977 I took a ride with a cousin of mine to take her boyfriend lunch. She had a super clean 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury, which at the time was just an old car. Love to have that car now. We took the exit off Highway 99 on to Golden State Blvd which was old Highway 99. As we wre driving we came across an abandoned car dealership. It was a used car dealership, but a dealership nonetheless. Glens Auto Sales. The lot was full of old cars. The newest car was I think a 1965 Rambler Ambassador or Classic. Most everything else was from the early 50's to early 60's. It was like they closed one night and never came back. Every car was completely intact. No broken glass, no missing parts. They were just sitting there. No fence, just a sidewalk that separated the street from the cars. They did have those really short poles that had chains connected to each pole for like a three foot tall fence. Easily stepped over and looked at all the cars wishing I could have some of them. One of the cars that stood out was a 1957 Plymouth Fury. Absolute beauty. Anyway, I went back in the summer of 1989 to see if it was still there. It was. Same cars, nothing changed except the vandals had come along to break windows etc. Most of the cars had been subjected to baseballs through the windshield which was pretty irritating. I dont understand why some feel the need to destroy things. I've never had the urge to do that so I'm at a loss. At least this time I had a camera and a video recorder so I could capture Glens Auto Sales before it disappeared forever. It is now gone. I've been back to find the location. The only thing left is a sign that is illegible. No cars, no building just the sign that once helped draw people to this long lost used car dealership from the past. As a side note. When I went back in 1989 I saw a 1957 Chrysler New Yorker airport limousine. It was an eight door model. Very interesting car.

Man a good tow truck operator could have that Thunderbird hooked and out of there in less time than it would take for anyone to notice. Same with the Caddy, though don’t know why anyone would want that. The Lincoln would made some noise but it could be pulled onto a flatbed and gone pretty quick too.

Beautiful 1969 Ford Mustang, convertible if I’m not mistaken. I wonder if it has the original rims? If someone wanted to put 25,000 into this car could be worth possibly $30-$35,000. So not a lot of money to be made. It would have to be someone’s “Dream” with no expectations of profit only the gratification of restoring and souping up an old American muscle car. Be a great gift for a good son. 😎

Normally even if they have No Trespassing signs displayed, you have to be Trespassed off the property by a police officer, which means he warns you not to come back on the property again ever, and if you do, you go to jail. Now if you go inside the bld, or whatever. then you go directory to jail, and you dont pass Go. But maybe thats just in Fla.

Those were not Firebirds at the dealership - they are Thunderbirds. My dad has two ‘65 Tbirds that are driveable - one hard top, one rag top. He has three others in his garage that he uses for parts. He also has a ‘61 F100, and a 1939 Dodge that, sadly, is now just a shell. And he recently bought a ‘78 Ford flat-bed tow truck. His daily driver is a 1978 F100, on which he put a dump bed. Really useful, and quite fun when people are shocked seeing the bed lift up! I got a ‘65 Mustang convertible as my first car when I was 15. It had been recently restored, but they didn’t do a great job on it. They just made it pretty for a quick sale, and it had a cheap paint job that faded quickly after we got it. As a teen, I packed as many friends in it as possible, so within 5 years, it wasn’t in great shape. I bought a newer car that had more creature comforts. I still have my mustang, almost 30 years later. My dad and I plan on restoring it when he retires...IF I can get him to retire! Lol

I just drove by that place a week ago. The firetruck is still there, didn't look in the building though. Quiet part of NH.

funny how the windows in a 45 year old dealership are spotless. lol im thinking this whole thing is staged.
@AmesiesCorner6 жыл бұрын
David Grant nope. I visit this place once a year or so. If it was staged I'd go inside..

Wonder why they didn't take the cars with them? I woulda considered that a priority. They must be loaded to just let them all sit like that

I'd love to have a nice old building like that and fill it with cars, but take care of them, of course!
