Disney should just make a sort of theater in the parks somewhere that just shows original ride films like this one the old star tours and just random queue films from old long gone rides for a people who just want to rest from the parks or live out the nostalgia.

I feel bad for the cast members that had to watch people get sick. I feel bad for the guests that got sick, but at least that was one and done. Imagine watching that for an over an 8 hour shift. Yeesh 😖.

I rode this on its last day of operations, there was nothing postes about it (and the rest of wonders of life) were closing, no fanfare or anything like that, a cast member told us, the whole pavillion was a bit run down, but the ride was still fun, was sad to see it go.

I remember coming to festival center once and explaining to a family member who had never been to the parks what the dome was originally for/why everything in it looked out of place. A cast member heard me and asked if I had gone to the attractions that use to be here. I excitedly told her yes, and she helped me explain a bit of the history. I finished the story by saying, "ya know...it's an utter shame this place became so abandoned and closed down without an prior notice whatsoever...I remember coming here to visit one year and suddenly...it was roped off, and a sign was put up that explained the attraction was seasonal only...I would never ride it again once that happened...". The cast member looked around quickly and responded, "ya know, everything is still back there. Some of my coworkers and I looked, and they just have the animatronics and stuff just sitting there." I was shocked, since at the time: KZbin didn't have those urban explorers. She showed me fuzzy pictures on her phone of the unmistakable Buzzy, etc...the lights were on and it was just so sad how deserted it was...she shared her hopes that maybe because it was untouched back there maybe one day it would reopen...I can't help but think of her, now that the place is becoming....whatever new out of place it's becoming....Just another disappointing announcement...I can't believe I actually miss Eisner lol.

I was excited for the "Health" pavilion long before it opened as Wonders. One of my favorite movies at the time was Fantastic Voyage and seeing the concepts and models in the EPCOT promo magazine (which I still have!) made it look so cool. An omni-mover through the body where you view giant internal body parts sounded so incredible! What we got was pretty good too and I ended up loving Body Wars! (And only a very tiny bit of it was CGI, just a few cells floating around. The rest was practical.) And Cranium Command was such a fun show with all the popular comedians in it. I'll always miss Wonders of Life, but I'm glad Disney is finally going to refurb that location. It's about time!

Have you considered doing stories on some of the "Lost to time" parks. There are two from my childhood that really have very little about them on the web, but there are some video and images, as well as one has a MOVIE. I am from Newport News, Virginia. And when I was a kid my Aunt was an extra in the ABC TV movie "Death of Ocean View Amusement Park" that was a cheap "Jaws" wannabe that is available online. They just happened to be closing the real "Ocean View Amusement Park" most of the footage you will find online will be that movie. The other is Buckroe Beach Amusement Park in Hampton Virginia. At least one POV on their "Oldest wooden roller coaster in America" (I think that is right) built in 1897 exists online. With some other shots. THere is a local news report from closing day. And there are dozens of images of both. I think both these parks deserve a good tribute online for those who can still recall, and so those who had no idea will know they existed!

Also, I live a less than 3 miles from an old "White City" park that still operates called "Lakeside Amusment Park" in it's own town of Lakeside, Colorado. It just added (but I don't think opened) a new used coaster last year. It could use a bit of love too!

I'm glad you took the time to do Wonders of Life in three parts. I learned a lot about Cranium Command. Actually, the effects for Body Wars were mostly old fashioned miniatures (many of them reused from the 1987 movie Inner Space). I believe the blood cells were CG, though, which was somewhat cutting edge at that time.

I was working for Disney Park Films when "Body Wars" was going through it's problems. The reason people got sick, it was discovered, was unlike "Star Tours", there is no "pause" reference to "reset" the body & mind incorporated into the ride. In "Star Tours", the original ride, there are points where the ride completely "stops", allowing the "reset". Example: when the tour ship goes into the comet... after it breaks through into the space, the stars field is rather still. Then the tour ship joins an attack on the Deathstar. The harrowing attack ends with an explosion, and a pause, before the tour ship flies into the trench to follow an "X-Wing" for the attack run. These pauses allow for a "reset" of the human body, and thus made the ride more manageable. "Body War" has no visual references to allow for such a "reset". I had to watch the film without sound or motion, and I felt a little queazy afterwards. This was also after it had been edited.

I hope Cranium Command comes back as part of the new area but with a new theme perhaps it could be the main center of how the guest are able to interact and create in the new area, with Buzzy (I forgot if he was ever found or not) being your guide to the inner workings of the area or something and maybe adding a twist with the Disney Villains trying to take control of the area.

I went on Body Wars. It never made me sick. My only problem with the attraction was its b-o-o-o-oring queue area. One of my rides was during its opening year,so it was a long wait....and there was *nothing to look at!!!* Plain blue-lit walls, that was it!!! This was supposed to be a medical miniaturization company of the future?! Where's the displays?! Where was the giant magnifying lens under which they put a shrunken ship next to a penny for comparison?!

think this one may have gone on this back in '97. granted, being 6 years old at the time, memories are hazy, but we at least remember something shrinking/body related at epcot on the one trip, and it was the only time we ever went, so it had to be something there and then. We can't say it turned this one into a biologist or anything, or even sparked an interest in biology or science, given we were already rather interested already, but this one can say it left quite the impact.

Also while seeing red human blood squirting grosses me out, I don't for some reason traveling through the blood stream among red blood cells. Don't know why. One of the reasons that ride was so terrible from what I remember is how hot it was inside the ride. Like they were keeping it 98.6 degrees....the same as your body temperature. The motion was very bad, but the combination of it being hot inside made it way worse!

I rode this many times when it was operating, probably before the edits. I see a lot of people observing that there are no ride pauses allowing for a sensory reset, but I really dug it. It was a ride that never stopped moving, so it was a lot more thrilling than your average start-and-stop experience a la Star Tours. Plus, you really got your money's worth since it never paused anywhere. I also think it had some pretty great direction, courtesy of Nimoy. A lot of the Star Tours stuff seems fairly generic and unmemorable, just with a Star Wars overlay. I really hate these pointless and ultimately destructive comparisons. If you liked Star Tours more than Body Wars, good for you. If you liked Body Wars better, that's great. The two could've easily existed simultaneously, especially since the one was in Epcot and the other at The Studios. And Body Wars' inspirational foundation was Fantastic Journey, which gave it a veneer of scientific credibility that Star Wars will never have. When you go to Cedar Point or Six Flags, do you complain about how they have multiple rollercoasters of varying similarity?

Another really good video, When could you start doing other Theme Parks like in Germany - Phantasialand, Europa Park, Hansa Park, Heide Park, Erlebnispark Tripsdrill etc etc I know you still got plenty of videos left to do of Efteling + then do other Dutch Theme Parks like Duinrell, Walibi Holland( previously Flevohof), Drievliet, Adventure Park Hellendoorn, etc :-)

Since you're British, I find it only appropriate that you start expedition world showcase looking at the uk pavilion (or you could do Norway just to get frozen over and done with. Seriously, I hate that movie)

Looking forward to the world showcase videos. Start at Mexico and follow it round? Might be a bit bias as I love the Mexico pavilion, or more specifically, the Churros :P

I've not been to either Body Wars or Cranium Command. But I cant help to notice that Cranium Command somehow seems like it was the better one. I could be totally wrong though.

Expedition Theme Park OK Sam! Can you do a video on the Extinct Alton Towers Shows of Barney, Tweenies and Bob the Builder including CBeebies Land with the rides of old and new but replaced by Characters of CBeebies? Also do the tragic Old Macdonalds Singing Barn?

I loved this ride but you are wrong. Disney was NOT the first to buy flight simulators for rides. This was actually "Tour of the Universe" that started in 1985 -- two years prior to "Star Tour". This was at the base of the CN Tower in Toronto and designed by Douglas Trumbull. Perhaps you can do a video of this too.

David they didn’t say they were the first to use flight simulators, just the first to use military grade ones

In fact "Tour of the Universe" was the first EVER with "Star Tours" opening 2 years later. The Military Grade label was only used by Disney to make their "second" offering sound better, despite using those built by the same company.
