I did some research. It seems Buzzy had been stripped of his jacket, hat and his rubber hands back in August. Maybe the one who stole his clothes came back for the rest.

It's strange that they list the rubber hands as stolen because in Matt Sonswas video you could tell the rubber hands were missing already and the video was posted in mid 2017. I'm not saying they weren't stolen necessarily because they could have been, but I think it shows how little they must pay attention to the attraction if they can't even recognize that the hands are long gone.

@@LauraIsPink the hands have been gone for at least 4-5 years, they are in police report though, Disney doesn't really keep track of that kind of stuff, that is a bad on Disney's part. the clothing theft was reported to the county police, they usually don't do that, its a good sign they are taking the theft pretty seriously and people caught in abandoned areas will be treated more seriously.

Disney often takes animatronics out to repair or restore them. This happens VERY commonly with Splash mountain. Some of the animals on the riverboat don't move, some are taken out and replaced, etc. It's a good possibility that they took the turtle out for a repair, restoration, or just to make a new one.

Dallen9 that’s why I think it was more of an inside job...like the cast members... it wouldn’t be the first time a cast member stole from Disney but it is probably the most amazing heist so far... besides not only do they know the importance of buzzy but they would also know how much money they could get from selling him to a Disney fanatic... they have the keys and can easily come after hours and like offhand said “put him in a trash can and wheel him out to a car in the back lot” it wouldn’t be all that hard really...it’s only timing it perfectly that’s the problem

@@es2226 What was stolen was Buzzy's clothes, Buzzy and Hypothalamus got moved to a secured location. Disney even messed up on the report, the hands have been missing for at least 5 yrs. Disney isn't in the habit of calling Orange County Police to report a crime, but they did with Buzzy's clothes and if they do show up on Ebay the cops have already been informed. Cameras are in a lot of places, they don't usually monitor abandoned buildings, they would move any cameras that were there to someplace they would be more needed.

It was built around the same time as Horizons. As noted by Mesa Verde Times, that ride had no security features of any kind. Pair that with the arrogance most executives have (not being judgy; I've worked with rich people before, and they don't get where they are without a bit of arrogance), they figured people would go explore, but wouldn't have the gall to steal anything worthy of note. It's not unlike the lack of urgency most CEOs feel regarding IT security.

@@junkiethejunker2081 I think "that report" is referring to the one police report that's been verified as having been filed which is for the theft of the clothing. There's been no verification of a second incident report about Buzzy having been stolen on file with the law enforcement . Incident reports are public records so it should be available by way of a standard public records request, commonly called a FOIA request, just like the one for the clothing theft, but haven't seen anything like that yet.

OMG I love Buzzy so much! My kids are grown and have their own families now, but we loved Cranium Command. Buzzy was one of my absolute favorite animatronics and I was so sad when they closed down that whole pavilion. I loved Body Wars too. They had these waffles in the pavilion that my kids and I loved, we always got them as a snack when we were in EPCOT. But Buzzy was our favorite, just seeing his picture and knowing he was still back there made me feel like we didn't totally lose him. I don't know why these crimes shock me, but I can't believe that someone would go in and steal Buzzy and Hypothalamus. I'm totally singing "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables in my head lol. Gotta get some shirts now.

Something I’m surprised you didn’t take note of is that Buzzy is extremely heavy. He’s a very large hunk of metal with numerous moving parts. He probably weighs hundreds of pounds; from estimates I’ve seen, over 300. There is no way any one person could have picked him up by themselves, and they never could have worn a backpack that had him inside. This was a team effort!

It is an over 100lbs animatronic, about 4ft tall, attached to hydraulics, wires, perched up about 6-7ft off the ground, in a room where CMs tend to sneak into do...stuff...yeah an urban explorer took it down hahahaha that would be epic!!! i am guessing it is chillin in the costuming warehouse, right next to the evil Spectro masks. Buzzy was found by a Disney employee. The staff removed him from his perch, because of the big pit that was in front of him. They thought it to be a fallign hazard when people took pictures with Buzzy. The staff did not bother to inform security, or headquarters when they did this, which caused the whole, "Oh, no! Buzzy's been stolen!" thing. Turns out, Disney was the one that removed him all along. They plan to relocate him to a safer area, so people won't get hurt taking pictures, later.

Edit: I take that back you be figured out how lol However , I still think as a regular person or "urban explorers" wouldn't have any understanding of animatronics or how to even remove it, I also would assume that it would be super heavy and how would you pick it up without more than one person or without heavy machinery? A 300lb item, hydraulic pressure. So many things don’t add up. How do you sneak something like that out from Disney? A place with more cameras than The Truman Show. Think of everything you would need to do and know to pull this off. Urban explorers and the way they have to operate in order to not get caught for just being in places they are not supposed to be, I would think stealing something like this would the last thing on their mind and just stick with the small manageable souvenirs easily ditched if things got to hot. This thing had to get to unbolted, cut hoses and wires you have no idea if are live and dangerous. You would need to spend a lot of time trying to figure out and plan how to get that done... I don’t think anyone would have attempted with the amount of time needed and probable noise this would have made. You would need to know a lot about the camera system and coverage, guard locations, etc. too much for the normal passer by. This had to have been done by someone with a lot more knowledge than the average employee.. then either know where suitable tools are located or somehow able to get their own tools on site, then spend the time executing this caper. And make no mistake, there had to be a lot more people involved. I would say 2 or 3 just to get him cut out of there and wrangle its 300lbs, and a few more as lookouts.. then how do you get something like that off site? It ain’t getting stuffed under your shirt... I’d say, someone with a cart of some kind, wheeling it out. Can’t sneak around with a cart and look inconspicuous, unless that’s normal for that person (employee?)... Back to the hydronic fluid.. I assume the few involved with the removal, were covered in the stuff, and it smells... if it’s anything like other hydraulic fluid, such as for heavy equipment, there is a distinct smell.. almost like a solvent, that would have stunk up the place as well as the guys/gals covered. With all that, how can they have slipped by any cameras or other people looking like that and pushing a cart? Nothing on Camera? I suppose it would help if Disney knew exactly what day it went missing but seems like if they just put in the effort, they could get footage from a few area cameras and probably pickup the strange scene of getting it out. There is no way that all happened without a lot of very obvious suspicious activity surrounding it. A regular person would have had to gain access to the employee parking lot, which I’m sure is the closest you can get a car to the exit of that place, no way that got pushed to the guest parking lot, so I’d say it was loaded and drove out from the employee lot. How easy is it for a guest to access and get their car in there? I’m sure not very likely at all. All this stinks of either an inside job or some kind of setup by Disney to somehow deter urban explorers since there are a lot of them now.. several had been banned for life.. But if something was stolen and I was thinking about “exploring”, maybe I would think twice about doing it now, as I wouldn’t want to possibly get caught up in all this... possibly blamed... I did some research and buzzy is still there apparently he was stripped from his clothes and rubber hands but he was just taken off his chair and was put in a hidden spot by Disney employees or urban explorers so case closed

I have a theory. Now I know this seems outlandish but what if Bob Iger had someone take out the Buzzy animatronic and put it somewhere for safe keeping. Now my evidence: who is it that just said he doesn’t like original ideas and would rather use IP’s in the parks? Bob Iger. He was teasing us as Buzzy had been recently stolen when he said that. Bob obviously did not do this himself though and hired a cast member to do it or just a random guy. And then again, who is gonna tell on him since he is the CEO of the Walt Disney Company. Bob knows that if he takes out Buzzy, later he can take out all of Cranium Command or change it into an IP attraction, maybe a Star Wars or Pixar attraction. Wait I just thought of something, what if he wants to make Cranium Command an Inside Out themed attraction as they kind of have similar premises? I mean the stages are still there and it would be a good way to use the land and building that’s already there.

I saw an article advising that @BackDoorDisney was arrested for the crime after he tweeted a photo of Buzzy's disfigured head. It stated he denied involvement or first hand knowledge of the crime at first but was arrested after he began tweeting pictures of the animatronic, not only this but his phone was found to have pictures of other missing animatronics that had been reported missing a year prior.

I smell BS! According to the fuzz, only his cloths were stolen. DATE - 12/28/18: An incident report has surfaced from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) detailing the theft of Buzzy’s “personal” items, including his green military-style hat and headset, his red bomber jacket, as well as his pair of custom-made rubber hands. These items are listed in the report at a value of $500. According to the report, sometime between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8, 2018, an unknown suspect entered the backstage area of the Wonders of Life pavilion. The suspect removed Buzzy’s articles of clothing and left through one of the exhibit’s many unsecured exits. The building is currently being used constantly by third-party vendors and contractors. Walt Disney World did not give permission for these items to be removed. The report does not specifically state that the Buzzy animatronic was stolen. “The items are a part of Walt Disney World history and hold a value on the black market for collectors,” said the report.

toe knee Well, you have a point there. However, there is photo evidence that Buzzy is not there anymore. If Disney had to cut him off his stand (after the clothes incident, to make sure nothing happened to him) They would have been more careful about it to preserve the little they had left. Not to mention, the little lamp guy (I don’t know his name) Was also stolen/taken off the base the same was Buzzy was. This would mean that either the clothes and the animatronics are one in the same case, or two separate happenings... Or Disney could just trying to cause a stir to get more people interested in the ride. Who knows, maybe they have plans and want to get people hyped...

Update on the Buzzy case: The actual animatronic has not been found but his clothes have! An unsuspecting Disney fan bought the headset and his clothes and they were later approached by the police, they returned the clothes to Disney and the seller is being questioned. Totally unrelated but some Haunted Mansion memorabilia was sold by the same person and was returned to Disney. I think they'll find Buzzy soon!

Alrighty... Buzzy has not been stolen. Well, not stolen. He was taken by Disney because people liked to take pictures with Buzzy, and it was quite hazardous. There’s a pit below Buzzy, and anyone who got too close could fall in. Disney took Buzzy and never notified their security. Mystery solved.

I heard an update from one of backdoor disney's videos that Buzzy was found. Turns out that Imaginers forgot to file the paperwork when they moved / transported him.

The answer is simple. It was a construction contractor working on the Universe of Energy to Guardians of the Galaxy transformation project right next door. They would have the tools, equipment and transportation needed to remove the animatronic. Disney uses the Wonders of Life pavilion for storage and special events, so there's always people coming and going in there, even if only backstage.

300lbs is a lot to try an smuggle out in a backpack. I don't think an urban explorer is going to be able to get away with it that easily, especially in a part of the park that is still active. River Country and Treasure Island are completely abandoned with no one around, and Treasure Island in itself is already remote and difficult to get to. Running off with a 300lb anything from either of those two locations as an urban explorer is far more feasible. I would have to agree that a cast member/custodial member wold have a much easier time making off with Buzzy. Apparently some cast members would sometimes sit with Buzzy to eat lunch, so it wasn't uncommon for them to be back there, and probably hardly questioned.

There are mixed reports about the stolen Buzzy . The original report was that it was Buzzy himself who was stolen, but now according to the Miami Herald it wasn’t Buzzy but his clothes which were stolen. As of 12/28/18
