as a kid g force was the scariest ride in the park, i remember finding the lapbar restraint scary in itself as we did not believe a lap bar could keep us in saftey, but i remember liking the ride, but 50% of the time, it felt like the ride was shut, it was always broken down, im not surprised they had low rider ship cause it was never open, but when it was even when i last went in 2017, the que would be 30-60 minuets long, which for small park is large.

I remember being very surprised that people found the lap bars uncomfortable. I thought they were excellent. They had one of those demo-cars out for you to try the bar out and it was what utterly sold me on the ride, in all honesty. But at the same time, it made my brother never want to go near the ride as he found it murderously uncomfortable.

Great video. As someone that lives in Tamworth and grew up with the park it was great to watch. You need to do one on Pirate Adventure which left Drayton. Once one of the biggest dark rides in the UK.

Daniel Hill I loved the Pirate Adventure. It’s so sad that yet another huge building in the park sits unused. I guess it’s in a perfect location for a Thomas The Tank Engine themed dark ride if they decide to expand that area again. But me and my family have long outgrown Thomas, so Alton Towers, Blackpool and Thorpe Park is where they ask to go now. I worry for Drayton Manor, my local theme park :(

The Klondike Gold Mine was the first rollercoaster with an inversion I ever rode and it was horrendous. It took me nearly 15 years to get the confidence to go on another coaster with inversions and now I can't get enough of them! More videos about Drayton Manor please!

G Force was the first-ever rollercoaster I ever rode with inversions. It was so uncomfortable that it put me off rollercoasters for 8 years and I still can't bring myself to ride anything with inversions. I think not having shoulder restraints made the ride so uncomfortable and terrifying to me, as I felt like I would slip out and fall to my death, especially on the lift.

I’ll never forget going on a school trip here and having a classmate pass out on this ride! Lol. They had to call the paramedics in, luckily he was alright and it was just procedure but safe to say we never let him live it down lmao 😂

Unbelievable that you should do this video now, I only found the channel in last 2 weeks & it's awesome. I live around 4 miles from Drayton Manor in Sutton Coldfield. I used to go loads as a kid, but haven't been for around 10 years. During my current obsession with coasters I was amazed to read that this ride had closed in the time that I haven't been & wondered why. The Python used to bash your head between the restraints so much, I almost expected to have boxers cauliflower ears. Shockwave is a great ride, the drop tower too but I'll always have memories of going on the SkyFlyer, the original Pirate Ship, The Pirate Adventure, The Buffalo & The Tea Cups with my mom. In fact, I'm gonna call her tomorrow to reminisce. Thanks for the great footage!

Ah Drayton manor! I grew up at this place! I remember when the pirate adventure first opened and when there used to be the death traps like the Mississippi showboat on the lake and the snake train (where the haunting is now) which was pretty much a dude driving a car of people dangerously through the woods 😂 I also remember the octopus and the haunted crypt 🤔 the shockwave was my first ever “big” roller coaster, and now at 33 I’m a massive rollercoaster junkie! 🎢 thank you for the upload! ahhh sweet nostalgia 😍

02:25 Think you may have your time line mixed up in regards to Klondike Gold Mine, you say "it was removed in 1994 to make room for a bigger attraction" when this isnt the true. Opened as Python in 1984, 1995 changed to Klondike Goldmine, and removed in 2005 to make way for G Force. It was transferred to Hayling Island Funland where it operated for a further 10 years until its removal. Otherwise great video as always!

Cosmo! G-Force was alright. I only went on it a couple of times a few years back but I found the seats good, comfier than almost every other coaster I have been on. It was just too short and in a park that can't compete on the big scale rides due to its small park layout, so ofcourse it died :(

I rode this only a year and half or so ago and I didn’t even know it was closed now! It was really fun as a ride, except I used to sit next to my mum and that one waist bar would only close to her size and during the pause at the top of the inversion I always felt like I was slipping out haha! Wouldn’t be the UK if the rollercoasters didn’t always feel a little sketchy! Still, a great ride

I rode this once; from what I remember the queue took forever and the lift hill was uncomfortable. It's still a shame that we've lost a unique ride in the UK. Drayton Manor has a special place in my heart, and hopefully one day can bounce back to it's former glory.

I can remember going to drayton manor with mum and auntie in about 2006/7. The restraint actually put me off of this ride as the thought of being held in by a single lap bar, whilst going through that first loop scared the absolute shit out of me. Need to wait for my kids to be tall enough and take them to alton towers

How interesting. I wasn't aware that the Rip Ride Rockit coaster in Universal IOA was an XCar. I knew I didn't like the way the restraints made me feel. Now I know why. I was a season pass holder at IOA for 4 years and didn't even ride that coaster for the last 2 years. It's just not fun and the restraints are very uncomfortable. It's certainly worth riding at least once or even a few times in one's life, but that XCar needs some serious work . Another great vid. Thanks for posting.

Everyone who rode this time and time again will know about the jolt from the restraint bar that used to happen sometimes. Made you have a mini heart attack as it fell forward an inch. Because of this, it will remain one of the scariest coasters I have ever ridden, but it didn’t stop me from riding 20+ times every other weekend :)

I really enjoyed gforce, i mustve been on it around 2015 and it was a solid ride. The queue line was grim. It just blazed techno music at you at max volume and there was a load of strobe lighting in the pitch black before you have to go up a tiny staircase inside revealing a big empty station.

Personally I love Drayton Manor. Been on all the big rides. I liked G force, was a decent coaster, nothing special but decent. Stormforce however is one of the best wet-rides in the UK for my money

I'm a "big" guy. I got to sit in the rig that demonstrated the lap bar. It was comfortable for me. Over the shoulder (makes me claustrophobic) I miss going to IAAPA.

There is an X car coaster called the X Coaster in magic springs and Crystal falls in hot springs Arkansas. I always had such a hard time breathing from that restraint system! It was a sky loop model and each time the train flew through the station the restraints got tighter and tighter. Then it took forever for the cars to get lowered back down into the station off the chain lift

I only went on this ride a few times, from what I can remember, the queues were always an hour or more, the lap bar restraint was painful and the humpty bump lift was awful, talk about the blood rushing to your head! Drayton Manor used to be a good park, but their aim for family fun has made is really bad for thrill seekers. Apocalypse is closing, so the only decent rides left are Shockwave and Storm Force 10.

Hey, I would love if you could do a video on Six Flags St. Louis. I know you usually don't do videos on still operating Six Flags parks but this park is currently dying out and not much is being done in the park to make it better, besides the opening of that wonder woman ride. In The Netherlands there is a Maurer X Coaster called the Formule X. It is in a theme park called Drievliet and it is also very compact. This coaster has a launch instead of a lift hill and is just 30 seconds long. It also has Techno music composed for the ride just like G Force. I absolutely love that ride and found it was really comfortable.

I was there on opening day. Second public rider, after the VIP's. Loved it then, but rarely rode it after that. As mentioned, the restraints tightening throughout the ride wasn't pleasant. I'm glad it's not open now.

I still hold this beauty in my top 10. So what if it crushed all the air out of you? The hang time was FREAKING NUTS. No other UK coaster has held up to that standard of hangtime (besides Icon at points). Sad to see this ride go. It's sad to look at Drayton Manor now, rapids abandoned, G Force abandoned, Pirate Adventure abandoned, Excalibur abandoned, StormForce10 being unreliable, shockwave not being designed with tall men in mind and the terrible operation of pandemonium. I love this park as I am so close to it, but all my great memories of this park are of rides that no longer exist. I hope that over the next few years Drayton can get their act together otherwise they will go down under without anyone even caring as all the good rides were already gone.

I live in Coventry, and Drayton Manor is effectively my local theme park (roughly 30 mins away). It's a shame to see the lack of investment in the park (outside of Thomas Land) since G-Force opened. I rode G-Force a few years after opening but wasn't wowed by it. I was gutted that it had replaced the old Klondike Gold Mine coaster (which was removed a lot later than 94 as stated in your video. I remember riding it - and thus becoming the first inversion I rode - in the early-mid 00s). Shockwave is starting to show it's age, too. The last time I rode it was not enjoyable at all due to how rough it was. Granted, it's a small park (you can easily get a couple of rides in on all the major attractions in a day), but I feel that if they could get at least one more good quality coaster (maybe a new woodie or a mid-size Gertslauer or similar), or preferably two, then the park might see a better future. At the moment it's thrill rides are the best thing about it. A good ride on Maelstrom is better than any other ride of its type IMO, and Apocalypse is well-renowned for a reason. If they could capitalise on the somewhat dead area around Apocalypse (and to a lesser extent, Pandemonium), they could have a nice new signature attraction right by the main entrance. Most importantly, can we get some love for the Buffalo coaster? ;)

Have never ridden G-Force (I live in Australia) but I have ridden Buzzsaw at dreamworld, which is a SkyWheel Rollercoaster. I can say. The cars and restraints are so comfortable!!

I remember riding it and not enjoying it, though I can't remember why. It was a bit before I was particularly interesting in rollercoasters, now I look at it and think it looks great. I loved shockwave though

I rode the prototype in the skylinepark wich feels like hundreds of times. Always a pleasue, smooth, high G forces and a wonderful view upside down. The only sad thing is, that the tightening lap bar problem seems to never got fixed. A couple of times, the breaks wich lock the car on the lifthill to slowly descent it into the station for loading didn't catch the car, so we were going backward and forwards for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then another 10 to 15 minutes to lock the car to the chain, so that the sensors detect a safe position and unlocks the restrains. I usally say: Nice, more ride time, but the bars really can make breathing difficult. Especially when your stuck in there for about 30 minutes. It can't really get extended in the parks current state. Theres no space left. The Freischütz coaster in the bayern park is another X-Car from M&S, but with a launch instead of a chainlift. These two coasters are perfect to show the variety possible with it. Thank you for the aditional informations.

I rode it during an organized amusement park tour back in 2006, and will not miss it, especially with the restraint tightening as the ride progressed. Breathing is overrated. The other two X-Car coasters I have been on (the launched Formule X in the Netherlands and Rip RIde Rocket at Universal) were both more enjoyable to ride.
