SOUND ISSUES: I am aware of some sound issues in this video. I now know what was causing it, and it's all down to a wind reduction setting on the camera. This has since been amended on future videos. But as I film many weeks ahead, it has meant that it's taken a while for it to be brought to my attention. I find if you watch the video on any device other than a mobile phone, it sounds much better. Due to the audio processing limitations on a mobile phone.

Wonderful video that just popped up in my youtube feed. Thank you so much for making it. I'm sitting here in my house in Porto, Portugal, reliving my childhood, back in the mid 60's, when that valley was my playground - the woods, the beck, the quarry, the fern-covered hillside, the cutting that we dared each other to walk through and the embankment where the best blackberries grew. It hasn't really changed. I hope Bradford Council sees the light and that it is preserved for future generations

I tend to go for walks farther out to Post Hill and that little nature trail walk down into Troydale, but I've walked the route from the Fox and Grapes down through Black Carr a couple of times, and cycled it across and up Tyersal Lane into Bradford. You get a good appreciation for how the land really does dip down to the beck and then back up the other side when cycling rough ground. A Greenway could be a great idea if done properly. Certainly a hell of a lot better than putting in a road, more housing and industrial units. We need to start preserving this land instead of pouring concrete and tarmac over every available space.
@wurble2 жыл бұрын
About 50 yards directly behind you at the start of the video is a tunnel under the embankment that Tyersal Beck runs through. I regularly walk through it with my dog. It's crazy to see how overgrown it is on the top of the embankment now. Back in the 90's it was very clear and we'd often race along the top of the embankment on off-road motorbikes. I really hope that housing development doesn't pass. I have very fond memories of that whole area and would hate to see it turn into housing. I very much hope Greenside tunnel is brought back to life with a cycle path too. So many memories of walking through the tunnel with friends as a teenager.

Great video guys, and glad you cleared up the mystery of what that ‘hole’ in the wall was. I walk past it often and thought it might have been a small ‘ice house’ where the locals would store meat etc packed with ice to keep it fresh but now we know for certain. The Pudsey loop always intrigued me. I’m amazed at how many places you can still clearly see where it ran.

Great episode. I was a bit surprised that you didn't seem to have found the culvert that carries the Tyersal beck through the embankment to the quarry area. It's very long (though obviously dead-straight) due to the massive width of the embankment at its base. As children my mum and her twin sister lived on Sutton Crescent, which backs onto the line section you covered that ran from Dudley Hill to the triangle junction. Once, whilst close to the quarry not far from the portal of Greenside tunnel, that they saw a 'killer owl' which had come from somewhere in Europe and been widely warned about on the radio (sorry - 'the wireless') and in the local news paper. I think that must have happened in the early forties.

Hi ya darren😀👍 congratulations on another magnificent offering👏👏👏👏 Have you ever considered doing the "Dark Arches" under Leeds station? Not the bits where we all have access but the hidden bit that the evening post once had access with old lock gates that once ran under the station and abandon offices still equipped with old phones. Inside the main section where the bars are you can see a vast section of blue Staffordshire brick that was used to repair the arches when the biggest fire the city has ever seen in the late 19th early 20th century. I've mentioned this to Martin Zero a few times and he seemed interested.
